Default "Brake" light coming on randomly?

Yesterday, I was pulling out of my street onto a main road. Traffic was horrible so I had to pull out in a tight spot. I was WOT until I shifted into 2nd.
I looked at my guage clusted because my BRAKE light was light up. So I hit my brakes, and it went off. My TCS and SLIP lights then lit up. Does anyone know why this is?

You're brake fluid is low. Add some.

If the brake fluid is "low" that ususally indicates you will be looking into needing new pads soon. While adding fluid will make the light turn off, the issue of worn pads is still there. If you add too much fluid now, when you depress the caliper pistons to install new pads, the fluid will be pushed back into the resevoir and will likely overflow.

True. Check your pads first, then decide to top off or replace pads. If you top off, you can always suck a little out with a turkey baster when you depress the pistons to install the new pads.

Thank you all very much! The brake pads do need to be replaced. Looks like I've finally got something to do Saturday besides sit around and watch TV!
Thanks again for your help!

OMG I think is what happened when we installed the wheel spacers. For some reason the brake pad came loose so we had to put it back. So when you say depress the caliper pistons....the fluied will be pushed back into the reservoir.... that makes sense because the reservoir on my car is over max.... so I had to add brake fluid. I'm gonna take some brake fluid from the reservoir and keep on eye on it. I really hope I dont have a leak somewhere crossing fingers.
