Default hawk hps brake pads/rotora slotted rotors

Quick question, today i replaced my front/rear brakes and front rotors with the aformentioned parts howeer they differed slightly from what was on my car stock. The stock rotors had an extra bolt that screwed into the rotor itself but did not seem to do anything at all, the rotora's did not have this. Does anyone know what that was for? and Secondly the Hawk brake pads came with all 8 pads however only 4 (2 fronts and 2 rears) of the pads had the extra metal rentention loop (for lack of a better term). Are these necessary as well?? the car seems to run fine with the new equipment i just dont want to all of a sudden have a massive break failure or damage.....

That bolt is so that the rear tires can't be mounted on the front it serves no other function. Reuse your shims from your oem pads it will help them not squeel

The metal retention loop thing sounds like the spring that is meant to drag on the rotors when the pads wear down and squeal.
