I have a friend on here that was telling me he thought Z's looked horrible with 19's unless they were lowered. Just wanted to get some feedback from the rest of you on this. Is this true? And does anyone have any pics of a Z with a stock ride height and 18's or 19's?
This pic is of a member's car.. His name is KBomb.. These are 19in Volks I was going to buy from him.. Hope he doesnt mind me posting pics of his car, but this pic is in another thread somewhere so i dont think he will care.. Anyway, they are riding on the stock suspension. I think they look pretty good for stock height!
Yep, I don't know what it is. I think having aftermarket wheels just draws more attention to the wheel well area. Consequently every flaw is more defined, such as wheel gap from the top of the wheel to the fender.
Easiest solution: go for tanabe GF210 springs or hotchkis, the tanabe lower a slight amount more, and the hotchkis lower a little bit less, about 3/4" all around
You don't need anything special, the springs come with everything you need.
I chose hotchkis due to price, and I didn't want to lower too much so I wouldn't bottom out on speed bumps etc. Couldn't be happier
Many pics of these setups have been posted already, you can find them by browsing through old threads.
Tanabe will look a little better, but hotchkis has a slightly better handling response IMO, espeically if you get the hotchkis sways also.
I would just wait until you buy wheels, and get springs installed at the same time.

I would think it's more a matter of personal preference. IMO I think the height of the stock suspension become apparent when you get wheels with good offsets. The stockers are really tucked, so the height difference is not as noticeable.
I vote for springs first!

you dont NEED to do anything unless you want to...
If you put springs on before wheels, car will look dropped...
If you put springs on after wheels, you will drive around for a while with some wheel gap...

Are there any tire feathering issues with the hotchicks or tanabes?

You shouldn't get feathering if you check your alignment from time to time.
Make sure to get aligned after the drop
you need to lower. when running lower profile tires (and most of the itme stretching them) the car looks rediculous without being lowered.
good luck. the stock rims look better lowered as well so just do it! LD
