Aluminum rusts?

Aluminum is actually very prone to corrosion. However, aluminum corrosion is aluminum oxide, a very hard material that actually protects the aluminum from further corrosion. Aluminum oxide corrosion also looks a lot more like aluminum, so it isn't as easy to notice as rusted iron.
When iron corrodes the color changes and it actually expands. This expanding and color change can produce large red flakes that we all know as rust. Unlike aluminum oxide, the expanding and flaking off of rust exposes new metal to further rusting. This why it is so important to provide a barrier so rust doesn't start."
Does aluminum rust?
Answer
No. However, it does corrode. Corrosion often results from salts and contaminants which leach into the aluminum (oxide) surface.
"Anodizing is a way of putting an artificial oxide coating on the aluminum. This coating is then often dyed and sealed to protect it. Protected aluminum is pretty good stuff and doesn't corrode if given a little bit of care. Natural aluminum also develops the same sort of coating (which is clear so it is hard to see), but it is more porous and fragile compared to anodized coatings."

Hey folks I have coilovers on my car and am not able to use the Stillen Master Brake stiffener, pissing me off because I cut out the hole already. The coilovers are too tall to allow me to mount to the strut bar mounting points. Anyway i can sell mine it is still in the box and ready to be mounted, just PM me a decent offer, I can ship to wherever after the paypal clears .

I will call them on Monday. The guy at Perforamnce Nissan said the master cylinder is different, so the spacing is different, and the not not arranged the same and will get in the way.
I need to get one and get it on soon, so is you can install yours soon that would be great.
Thanks

Just FYI everyone,
This brace will not fit with the ARC strut bar. The brace is basically built around the OEM strut bar, so aftermarket strut bars with a similar type of strut bar plate will work. Coilovers especially those with adjustable dampening up top will not allow the brace to fit.

Great post! However, not to play down the Stillen piece, the Carbing strut bar comes with a master cylinder brace, it's aluminum and solid welded = light and rigid. An good alternative option IMO.
