Default wheel/tire/suspension setup

Ok, so ive been looking around on the thread and I've decided what I want. Tokico D-spec shock/spring kit, Cusco swaybars front & rear, Axis Reverb wheels 18x10.5 r 18x9.5 front with Yokohama Advan Neova AD07 tires-285/30ZR18 rear 265/35ZR18 front. anybody see any problems with that setup? and with the cornering ability that setup would provide be too much for stock endlinks?

I want to ask why you would put nice suspension on heavy wheels with very nice tires. If anything, wheels make a bigger difference than springs. Tires will make the biggest difference of all.

Pretty good choices. It all depends on what you plan on doing with it and what your goals are.

wheels--I like the wheel idea.... sure, they are a little heavier than some wheels, but not the heaviest. They make up for the weight, in width and offset.

[b]suspension[b]--I thing the shocks are good, not too sure about the springs. I have a lot of experience with the D-Spec shocks, but not thier springs

sways--The Cusco sways are, IMO opinion the best (stiffest) ones on the market today, but I hope that changes soon...Noah....hint..hint

tires The tire sizes are pretty good, and brand is fine.

As far as the stock endlinks, you should be fine.

any 18" wheel over 20 lbs is heavy. considering there are a lot more out there that weigh less. but if that is the way you want to go, it is your choice. they do not look that bad

yeh i think im gonna go with reverbs. I like the nismos more but...600 bucks a pop versus 375 a pop eh...id like some money leftover for Tokico D-specs & cusco Sways...i figured 295 would fit in the rear but would 275's fit up front? & tokicos lower it about an inch so factor that in too (not sure about the offset for reverbs)

i think i read somwhere that a 275 wil fit up front i think in sport compact car magazine they took the rear rim of the nismo the 9.5 with a 275 on it and put on the front no problem and trust me look on ebay you can get 18s for like 900 for the whole set of rims like all day long just keep looking and dont spend more that 1200 on the 18s you just have to catch them at the right time

here i found you some
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NISMO...81036487QQrdZ1

940 not bad and 2 days left keep an eye on them

Im running 275/30/19 in front on 9.5 +22. lowered around 1.7 inches with -3 camber. No rubbing issue whatsoever. The rear however, i couldnt fit 285s with 10.5 +22 on -3.5 camber without having to roll fender ( lowered 17.5-2 inches) Just giving you something to compare with.

Not to thread hijack, but I can vouch for this ebay vendor. I recently bought the Nismo S-Tune suspension from them and the transaction went super smooth. $1275 included shipping. Now to do my own install this spring

I wish I'd have gotten my LMGT-4's from them too. Let's just say I paid somewhat more than what they're asking.

With those Axis Reverbs (18x9.5 and 18x10.5) You can run as wide as a 285/30/18 up front and a 315/30/18 rear, same as with the Nismo's LMGT4's 18x8.5 and/or18x9.5 front and a 18x9.5 rear. We have done it for years on all types of suspensions, works and looks great.

If this is too costly for tires for you than the 275-265/35/18 up front on either of these wheels, and a 295, 305/35/18 or a 315/30/18 on the rear will be great. Trust me, ben playing with the wheel/tire combinations on these cars for 4 years.

WA2GOOD, you can put 285/30/18's on either the 8.5 or 9.5 inch nismo wheels up front?

would 285/35/18 have too much sidewall for a 9 or 9.5 inch rim up front? Or does it really need to be a 30 profile up front to make 285 work with 9 or 9.5 inch wheels?

Yes, it does fit and works great believe it or not, on even the 8.5" wheels. I would not ever recomend trying anything more than a 285/30/18 on a 8.5" wheel, but we have used it for years, and it holds up to alot of street and track abuse.

A 285/35/18 is too much sidewall for the front, the 30 series 285 will be best. A 285/35/18 might work fine on a 9 or 9.5" wheel, but I wouldn't want to use that size tire on the front.

so again to the weight issue. is a 22 pound wheeel that is 18x10.5 heavy? i know there are 18x9.5's that weigh like 18-19 pounds but, are there any 10 or 10 & 1/2 inch wide tires under 20 pounds? & with a stock suspension i can run 265/35 on the 9.5 inch fronts, and 295/30's on the 10.5 inch rears with no rubbing issues? (im goin to wait a while before getting some revalved konis & putting T2 springs on em)

Give Truechoice a call, they do they offer several choices in Koni based shock products, some with shortening and revalving. You may want to consider weather or not you want to run the rear springs that come with the T2 setup, but I understand how you might want to try them first. Look at rotation and if your able to get into the throttle when you need to.

Just a thought,
Truechoice Phase IV front reworked Koni shocks w/ independent adjustment for rebound and compression, shortened cases and race valving. $990
K-sport front upper shock mounts (pillowball) @$125
Eibach ERS springs (600lbs) $175
Koni threaded coilover parts $114 (part#KONm055x2x150)
Koni progressive soft bumpstops $28 (part#KON15.34.20.000.0)
Koni sport rear shocks $450
Revised oem 350Z rear springs 427lbs in rate ($75 sorry, I don't know what year you have)
Cut down rear oem upper spring seats for a .8" rear drop ($52 if you don't want to cut yours)
-----------------------------------------
$1882 not including the last 2 item's above

VS. what your considering

Koni sports $700
Revalving $440 (Just to mention it, shortening would be $237.50 per shock.)
Nismo T2 springs $420

22 pounds is not that heavy considering the 10.5" width of the wheel. With the set up you have mentioned, yes, you can run those wheel & tire combinations and be just fine.
