I agree fully that Tein is overrated for the quality, JIC makes some pretty nice stuff but I have heard complaints about the dampening. I will probably look into the cusco zero's and electronic damper adjustment. If $900 is alot of money to spend on suspension you bought the wrong car ROTFL!!

How do you know what they handle like?
+1 everything I have seen on D2 looks like a quality product, it's just that they were new to the market (350z wise anyway) the spring rates are customiseable at the time of order... I don't see any other company offering this. D2 has had touring cars and has been road racing before anyone knew how to pronounce Tein. The only thing keeping me away from these is all the haters on the board that have no direct experience with the product but choose to speak up anyway. a few random horror stories, big deal, people blow thier motors with the addition of turbo kits but never blame the kit for the motor popping. Its like the saying "guns don't kill people, people kill people". There are more variables than the whole shock just broke while going 5mp in a straight line, who knows what really happend in those horror stories unless you were the driver!

This is information you need to hear. A while back I wanted to jump on a killer deal for D2's in a group buy being held on another forum, $600 IIRC. Before I placed my order I decided to check on the vendor's claim that I could pick whatever spring rate I wanted since the only way this could be true is if D2 was changing the valving in the dampners to match my spring rate choices. I emailed D2 directly and got a reply directly from one of the companies engineers in tiawan. He told me that you cannot pick your own spring rates, they offer two kit's with either 15kg/13kg or 13Kg/10Kg spring rates and that's it. When I asked about stepping down to 11/11 rates I was told "that would be too soft".

Dear Sir:

Thanks for your e-mial. Regarding your quesiton that both F-15kg/mm R-13kg/mm and F-13kg/mm R-10kg/mm are correct. For the 350Z Z33 if spring rate go for F-11kg/mm R-11kg/mm will be too soft. We will suggest you to start with the in current use spring rate, you could get this informaiton from our US distributor. And 9kg/mm can not be used on this car model.

Most coilover companies will allow you a +or- 2Kg range to run with different spring rates, beyond that they will tell you you have to revalve.

Silk Road does allow you to pick different spring rates, BUT they are built to order with the correct valving for your choice in spring rate.

When I said "basics are known to not have the greatest dampning performance". It comes from filtering 4 year's worth of various owner review's since 2003. On the whole Basics actually get very good review's. For many it's 504/504 spring rates are the most productive rates they can go with given their local road condition's, for them going higher may less speed around thier favorite hangouts. Member Zillinois has a excellent review of his Basics and he did track them.

It's not like that, their's a misunderstanding somewhere. No harm no foul
