Default Parking Brake Issues...???

My parking brake is wierd, i have to almost pull it off in order to generate real grip. If not pulled super far up the car still rolls a little. Is this common? if not, what could be the problem? thanx guys and girls.

Our parking brakes are weak.
Whenever I park on pretty steep my car just starts rolling down even
with the parking brake fully engaged unless I leave it in gear(which I always do).

They are beyond weak. My clutch cable actually broke and was fixed under warranty I guess from yanking on it too hard.

By the way I'm talking about the brake handle and cable, so get yer head out of the gutter!

Our parking brakes is from the drum brakes inside our disc rotor. It's small and pretty weak. I had the dealership tightened it for $30 in order not to roll, but it's pretty hard to yank on.

Never had a problem with mine and I've got 19K miles on it. I'd suggest getting your parking brakes adjusted or start carrying around a chock.

Same here, took it to the dealer and had them adjust it for $30. Just warn the valet guys if you ever have to leave it somewhere. Went out for dinner one night and watched the car slowly creep out of the parking spot as the valet got out. He jumped back in and moved it to a flatter spot but still gave me a heart attack.

You paid $30 to have them pull the coin tray out and turn a 10mm nut?

Well, I have the same problem myself. To make a very long story short, I just assumed it needed an adjustment as well. I've been told twice now by the dealer, the same thing that several people here have already said here, which is the park brake is really weak. I might as well open the door and stick my foot out - it would have about the same holding power.

It's just when you're on a *very* steep incline, at a red light, and the Caravan behind you is 2" off your bumper, it makes getting out of 1st gear a little tricky without spinning the tires or burning the clutch.

Your parking brake is also call the Emergency brake for a reason, make sure it works at all times, who knows when you will really need it.
