Default Old pads on new rotors?

Going on a road trip in a week or so and my front pads are pretty low(Original pads, 40,000 mis!!). So i'm gonna change them before i go since i'll be driving pretty hard through the mountains. My rotors are worn too, not to the point of being dangerous, but they have enough of a lip on them that i want to replace them within the next month or so. I can't afford to do new pads and rotors between now and then, but i don't want to buy new pads again, unless there is gonna be a safety factor. So when i do get new rotors, can i use the "old" pads on them, or do i have to by all new ones again?? Thanks!

No, you don't have to buy new pads.
