This might help understand what's probably going on. If you've got Brembos or high performance brakes, it should be required reading. http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp...rakedisk.shtml

It addresses juddering and vibration, but mentions brake noise as well.

Default mine too...

i have a 35th anny... same prob. same wheel. right rear. as for the link and all the other stuff, i've read it all. dunno what to think. i agree its nice to hear that i'm not the only one, but that doesnt solve our problems. the link from stoptech does explain things well, but there are still some glaring question marks...

1. why is this problem with only the right rear wheel?

2. why is this problem happening with several owners?

mind you, it doesn't seem to be the majority, but it's enough that this issue raises an eyebrow.

i actually went ahead and bought new rotors and pads. project mu's to be exact. i'll install these puppies and give you guys some news as soon as i do. keep your fingers crossed.

I have the same problem now with my stock non-brembo pads and rotors. Loud, high-pitched squeal at very low speeds. The squeal is inversely proportional to the amount of brake pressure I apply (i.e. lightly touching the brake = loud-*** squeal; mashing the brakes = no sounds).

I pulled my calipers out and inspected the thickness, but my pads looks to have plenty of meat left on them. The problem seems to go away when I blast brake cleaner into the area to clean out all the dust, but reappears within a few days. My theory is that my pads are slightly grooved (matching the light grooving in the rotors). At this point, I would venture a guess that I have a substantial amount brake dust building up in gullets of these grooves, causing the squeal.

I have some new rotors and pads on their way, so hopefully this will solve the problem.

I'd love to hear b/c mine comes from the right rear, as well. Nissan wants me to bring the car in to meet w/ a specialist, but until they're willing to admit a problem, it's gonna be another waste of time for me.

Default problem fixed...

alright guys... i installed the project mu rotors and pads. lo and behold, the squealing went away. i've had them on for a couple of days now. so far so good. i took a look at the rotors as i took them out, but i couldnt really gain any insight from what i saw. there was nothing special about any of the rotors nor pads. now to remind everyone, my problem came from the right rear. well, good luck to everyone, but replacing the rotors and pads seem to be a fix. all i can narrow things down to is that the issue is the stock pad and rotor. i'll have to give these rotors and pads some time. if the squeal comes again and only from that one side, then i'll change my theory.

good luck guys! let me know if any of you come up with anything!

Thanks. I took my car in to have all of my pads replaced but the rears had so much life left that I kept them on. I really should have changed them out though....the OEM pads alone might be the problem.

I've got an '06 Enthusiast, which means no brembos. I've had the squeak for quite some time... I've already replaced the front pads, as an infernal squeaking was coming from those. After that, I noticed that the rears were squeaking, too. I just replaced the rear pads yesterday, too, and they still squeak. I heard that it may have something to do with the e-brake? For me, it seems to be coming from the rear LEFT side. I am a little hard on my e-brake; I engage it every time I park, even though I've got a 5AT. Could it be causing an issue? Or, do I need new rotors? The car's only got 13,000 miles on it. I can't imagine I'd need new rotors already.
