Question Brake Pads

I hope I posted this in the right spot, anyway, I was just wondering, are there brake pads on the market that would produce less brake dust? If so, what are they called, made of,and cost? Thanks.

Ummm, yeah....If you could go ahead and post this in the "Wheel/Tires/Suspension/Brakes" section, that would be great.

Just a little Office Space humor for ya!

As far as I know, a harder pad would tend to produce less dust, but may also cause more wear on your rotors. I've never seen it first hand, but I've heard stories of Mercedes owners who didn't like the dust and put on different pads, only to have their rotors go to hell.

There's a guy from Carbotech who posts frequently in the aforementioned section, and he might be able to suggest a pad that won't hurt anything but still makes less dust.

Good Luck!

There are different compounds, some of which are more prone to break dust.

I have to say, the Z is the most break dust prone vehicle I've ever owned. I've seen BMWs that look way worse though.

My MR2 Spyder was like magic, it rarely produced ANY break dust.

I installed Hawk HPS pads on my G35. They produce NO dust!! I never have to clean the wheels. It has simply become a non-issue. Do a search on Hawk HPS pads and you'll find my post that gives the model # that will fit if you have non-Brembo brakes.
