Default those with hotchkis sways in here

i've had my hotchkis swaybars for about a month now and for some reason both the front and the back swaybars squeek like crazy whenever im going over bumps and things. i've greaced them twice now and that didnt help anything. i've never heard of anything about noises from z owners with hotchkis sways.

any ideas? do any of your swaybars do the same thing? it even squeeks when i sit in the car. it's real loud, sounds like an old matress.

please help it's realyl embarassing to roll up in a z and then everyone hears crazy amounts of squeeking. especially because you hear it most when at stoplights/driving slow through parking lots.

You have to grease on regular bases. I like to anyways to keep it fresh and clean. Alot of dirt comes through the bottom of the car. It's also going to eventually push all the grease out due to the much movement.

they're veeeerrrry thoroughly greased now, probably more than necesary but it's never not squeaked since install. the grease shouldnt be the issue. i used the grease from hotchkis and had them send me some more to use. the problem is still there. im out of ideas. it never made the noise before, and now it does since the bars are installed. grease shouldnt be the issue.

I had the same problem. If it isn't the grease, then the next possibility is that you tightened up the swaybar endlinks when the car was on the lift, instead of under unladen conditions. You are supposed to tighten the swaybar endlinks with the wheels on the car, and the weight of the car on the wheels, just like when the car is parked. The best way to do this is to use a roll-on lift, the kind that alignment shops use. Just loosen the endlink bolts, and re-tighten them to the proper torque specs (around 40 ft-lbs I think). It sounds dumb but it worked for me.

I still have a rare noise when I hit bigger bumps, probably from the rear endlinks. I think replacing the endlinks will work, and I'll probably use SPL endlinks because they have more range of motion (I think they call it articulation angle).

that actually makes a lot of sense and it could be it. i talked to hotchkis and they recomened loosening up the bracket bolts and re-torqueing them because i didnt have a torque wrench so i just tightened them as much as i could which could be squeezing the bushings to hard against the swaybars
