Default Good Spring and Shock/Coil overs for a Daily Driver

I been searching lots of threads and i cant seem to narrow it down. I'm looking for a Daily Driver Spring Shock comb, or Coilover system. My Z is pretty much for the weekend, and i dont think it'll see a track more than once or twice.

I been looking at the Tein Basics, but i heard goods and bads. I really dont want the car to set much lower than it is ( i have 19' SSRs) maybe just the back.

So what do you guys recommend?

Nismo setup will suit you just fine. No adjustments needed and handles fantastic.

Good luck finding a set of "coilovers" that out-last D-specs.

I like my Nismo and would recommend it, but wanted to point out that it is "no adjustments possible" -- it's a plug and play system, unlike most coilover setups. It also drops the car 3/4", which you indicated you might not want.

Basics can do a oem ride height, but only by dialing in the absolute maximum amount of spring preload or 2.4" worth. Not something I'd recommend even if it can be done, doesn't mean their isn't a price to pay for doing it that way. Tein recommends a 1"/.8" drop.

Based on what you want I could see Tein H-tech's with Tokico D-specs, you'll get a mild drop and a mild increase in spring stiffness in the front.

Bilstein PSS9 would be a better choice then the Basics, only vise I don't care for is how the setup uses progressive rate rear springs with a wide spring rate spread.

Keep in mind that most cheap coilovers tend to be underdampned. Not everyone here can or will sense what that means to the ride and drive experience, but your better off with quality shocks like D-specs or Koni SA's. Otherwise spend a little more to up your budget into at least the $1500 range.

1.5" drop = not enough bump travel on oem based shocks, unless our tighening up the shocks as a method to soften the impact of hitting the bump stops, which is in of itself not the way to do things. Glad you ok with it, just not a choice I'd go with.

I have HKS RS coil-overs and I am very happy with them, no complaints. I also do track events and auto-x on them and they perform fine.

They fall into your price range and are well dampered for the rates.
