Brembo BBK kit installed-bedding procedure[PICS]
Hello,
I just got my 332mm Brembo BBK kit installed in the front and since there was absolutely no installation papers inside, I would like to ask the community for the proper usage of the brakes with the new rotors and calipers in their first days on the car.
I heard that AP racing recommends couple of hard brakings from 70mph to stop repeated several times.... does this apply to all new BBK kits?
What would be the best aproach not to f@ck things up? Should I just drive around for 300miles avoiding hard braking or do something more specific?
Thanks for your advise.....

Bed in is very simple.
10 stops from 70-10 or 20 mph, hard on the pedal but not hard enough to engage the ABS. Do the stops one after the other, no cooling down.
Then drive around for a few minutes, don't use the brakes, letting them cool a bit.
Do the same procedure again, and you're done

What Z1 posted is the usual procedure.
However I have 2 comments:
1.) AP Racing actually does not recommend it the way you quoted them.
They actually say that for the first X miles (was it 100, I forgot) you should not brake that hard, somewhere from 60-70 down to 30 repeatedly. Then after this gradual break in, you want to do the hard stops to very low speeds without actually stopping and then give it enough cool down driving. After that hard stops from above 70 are fine.
All of that is mostly required before any track use. If you only drive on the street, it's less critical.
2) It sounds like you have the non-brembo stock brakes in the rear?
Hope you can bed the fronts in without burning up the rears!
Also with the drilled rotors I would be careful to gradually increase heat and not immediately go for the hard stops...
Search for zeckhausen and stoptech: they have a more elaborate description of bed-in and I believe they also recommend to start with medium stops to 30-40 mph to bring up temperature before going for the hard stops.

Heres our recommended:

No reason to take it easy on the new parts, 10 stops from 60-10 at the cusp of ABS activation, allow the system to cool, repeat 1-2 more times.

I guess you people know it best but I could have sworn that you used to recommend a couple of 60-40 medium brakings before doing the hard stops...
EDIT:
http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm
Thats where I have the info on medium braking and thermal shock from...
