Default Do I need a camber kit

Do I need a camber kit if I'm going to install hotchkis spring? it's only .6 front and .8 inches drop rear. I'm trying to decide should I get new lowering spring or get a used stock spring. Didn't really want to get a camber kit. What are other option that I can get without camber kit.

With Hotchkis there's a good chance you won't. For it's a mild drop. But you need to still have the alignment checked. Anything could happen. Oh yea, you should of posted this in the suspension forum. Look for it to be moved.

Definitely not if you don't mind buying tires frequently.

Maybe yes, maybe not depends on alignment after the drop. Diff cars vary.

But how much it will affect the alignment depends on the car. I have Eibachs that ended out of spec, but have had friends with Eibachs stay in spec. And the drop is small.

I don't understand this. Don't you have springs on the car now? So aren't those "used stock"? Or do you mean "stay on" used stock?

Anyway, I didn't drop mine for the sake of dropping it. My 03 had this horrible "bunny hop" from factory on flat slow driving that drove me nuts. So I went Progressive with the Eibachs, that happened to have a mild drop. Been happy ever since. DECIDED to get camber arms front and back, and also Toe cams to get all the specs back in place because I am picky that way. You don't "have" to, but I find tires end up more expensive than the camber arms.

AFAIK, any drop past .5 inch gets you to the realm of can you align it back to specs or not. If you can, good for you. If not, you have to decide if you can live with the extra camber (not bad, but eats tires). If you plan to stay long term lowered, I would invest on the arms (I did!). The rear arms are cheap (I think), the fronts are a little more. Note that there is NO camber adjustment up front, thats why past .5 inch you start to get in trouble.

Slapnote the reason I said I want to get used stock spring is because my spring have 95000 miles already, so I think I need another set of stock spring.

with little camber and toe in in the back, you will attack corners faster

Oh, ok, got it.

So one way to go is find almost new take offs from an 06/07 going with after market stuff. You will have almost/new springs and the newer version of the dampers for a few $$$.

I went with Eibachs and kept the original shocks, have been good to me at 52K miles. Been wanting to get post 05 OEM shocks, they are supposed to be better than original 03s. And looks like this :

I was also having the thoughts about the camber kit. I have Cobb springs, and the drop is about 3/4" front and 15/16" rear. Also, what should I look to pay for camber kits? thanks

I went with Kinetix arms (front and rear). I think they are a good value for the money. There are many more expensive or complex alternatives, but really, I just align the car and go driving, there is only so much high tech you need on this. Of course, racing applications is different. I don't track my car, so thats not a concern.

Beware of something : everywhere int he web they have something called "rear toe arms". This is a miss name. The rear TORSION arms are not meant to adjust toe. They are meant to adjust caster. Because the angle they sit on, when you adjust them you also change your toe, but this is not the proper use.

To properly adjust the toe in the rear you need the larger toe cams. This is the right way to adjust toe properly without messing with caster.

I have the Eibach drop (small, close to 1" around) and with camber arms (front and rear) and toe cams on the rear is all in perfect spec (per Nissan). I never got the torsion arms. They look cool, but I have other things to do with the money.

Kinetix arms : http://www.kinetixracing.com/index.a...&ProdID=8&HS=1

For a great deal on rear arms with toe cams, Google "SPC Front Rear Camber 350Z" and you will find a deal on the set. I have never used these, I have my Kinetix, but the price seems great. Good luck.

the answer, as hinted at in the above posts, is "it depends"

What it depends on?

1. your current alignment specs. No one can tell you if your car will be out of spec after making a change if they don't know what your current specs are

2. your wheel and tire combo. An alignment is setting the relationship of the tire to the ground. As you alter wheel width and offset, you potentially change the relationship of the tire to the ground. So, even a wheel and tire change can change your alignment

3. The SPC rear kit is absolutely the best bang for the buck on the market - that's probably why we sell so many
