Default Need help removing rear rotors

I just installed Stoptech fronts and decided to repalce the rear rotors with DBA 4000 series using stock calipers. However, When I tried to remove the rear rotor after removing the stock caliper, it will not come off. The parking brake is off, and instead of pushing the parking brake adjuster rubber cap out of the hat I accidentaly pushed it inside.

I tried using a hammer and mallet to tap on the outer edge of the rotor to remove it but it will not budge.

Any ideas guys, Im getting really frustrated here. Once the rotor is off install should be a snap since I did my fronts.

Spray some PB blaster or an other brand. Maybe even wd40 woould work. Spray around the studs and it will seep in. Give it 5 mins and I bet only one tap will get it loose.

too bad you are in Socal....i wouldn't mind doing it for you. It wasn't that tough.
i changed my rear rotors not too long ago. i used a scrap 2x4 and a stubby heavy metal hammer to knock those oem rotors out. You need to hit the rotors strategically with blunt force.

I used PB Blaster. Saturate the studs and wait some time to let the penetrant do its thing. It was still rough for me, and I had to keep at it, wacking with a rubber mallet for at least 20 minutes on each rear before they came off. I would suggest alternating where on the edge you hit it. 12-->6-->3-->9-->12-->6 etc

Edit: Keep at it, and eventually it will come off (after tons of frustration and a tired arm)

Unless you've driven your 350Z through salt water, you won't need penetrant to get the rear rotors off. Even though the e-brake is not applied, it's probably still hanging up on the shoes. Turn the shoe adjuster all the way loose and the rotors will pull right off. Then, readjust it tight and back it off one notch after you install the new rotors.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I've tried everything you mentioned above, and the rotors still will not budge!!!. My arm is tired and the rotor is ding up from me hitting it so hard.

I backed off the brake adjuster and still not even a little movment. I give up.

I'm going to take it to some brake place and get ripped for $100...I hate defeat!

don't you give up so soon on us.... are you hitting it with an iron hammer? Rubber hammer ain't strong enough. You need a metal hammer.

Finally, the rotors came off! Geez, I had to get a long 2x4 with a sludge hammer and hit the rotor from the other side of the Z. I beleve the parking brake clearence was tight even though I backed it all the way off and the dust shield does not help things at all.

Just got done bedding in the the pads too (Axxis for the front Stoptechs and Hawk HP+ for the rear DBA's) They even had a police speed trailer on the road that I did my runs on. Very helpful when getting up to 60

Thanks for everyones help, track days here I come.

Dust shields ??? Get rid of those ASAP ! Rear brakes are small enough, you don't need to shield heat ...

mmm, good point, I cut the front dust shield off because the stoptechs would not fit, I guess I thought the rear brakes really don't build alot of heat up, but maybe I should anyway, it was kinda a pain in the *** though with metal snips.
