Default brake problem

I have an 07 z (6month old/ 8000miles) and I noticed a few weeks ago my brakes were screeching as I would come to a stop, at first I thought it was the car next to me but yesterday I got on the brakes and the screeching was really loud, (kinda like metal to metal contact) so my question is do I need new pads? rotors? at 8000 miles?

Im going to jack the car up sunday and inspect the brakes, what should I look for?

Thanks

I had some screeching noise before with low miles still on the car. Thought the pads were gone. I've always been good with brakes. I couldn't believe the pads were gone. Went out and bought some new pads. Went to change them out. Still had more than half the life left. I just blew all the brake dust out, cleaned the calipers a little. No problems since. Already put another 6K miles on the car. Still plenty of pad left after16k miles and a couple of moutain runs to add to it. Still have the hawks pads in my garage.

It's your shims. Replace it. They can snap in half sometimes... or get warped.

I have the same problem. Where are the shims located on the brakes?

Had same problem with my 2007 with 1500 miles(2 month old). Car squealed like a pig when making right turns. Dealer replaced Pads & resurfaced rotors for free. Problem fixed for now.

odds are it's probably "heat glazed rotors"... Hopefully they are not warped, if so resurfacing does nothing...

Had this issue back in early 03 with mine...

If it comes back, new rotors and better non oem pads ftw.
