Im getting my springs tom and im thinkin of doing it all by myself since my buddy is fairly busy and he wont be able to do them til next week. I cant wait til i drop them. Are they pretty hard to do all by myself? ive worked on Hondas and acuras and they are fairly easy but i havent worked on nissan yet. My car will be my guinea pig ...thanks for ur feedback in advance...pls let me know if theres anything i need to be really careful and give me some tips on the easiest way to do them...thanks million guys

thanks for giving me the confidence...i did my s2k in less than 3 hours...
the only thing im afraid of is the front. it looks like i will definitely need the spring compressor to get the whole assembly out of the control arm whereas honda, you just have someone to step on the disc brake and move on the side and its out then...i know people told that the back is fairly ez...that for sure i will do tom...but we'll see about the front...more feedback pls guys

y did u say that? ive seen people on some of the posting that it took them 5-7 hours to get the whole car done. In fact, they spent 90% of the time in the front. if u think that, can u pm me on some tips to make it easier then pls..

 

The back is pretty simple DIY. The fronts are tough....nothing easy about it.

 

Install was definitely much harder than disassembly for me.

When removing your front strut, take care not to snag the speed sensor line. Once you are ready to reinstall the front strut, I found I had NO room to maneuver it in and line everything up. I had to get someone to stand on my front rotors to pull the assembly down far enough so I could slide the strut in.

Make sure you have ample room under the car, and get yourself a good-sized breaker bar with various extension (some tricky angles to mess with). Don't forget to pick up a set of Mechanix gloves also, since you are guaranteed to bust yoru knuckle up without any.

 

the fronts took me about 4 hours to complete with no breaks in between. It was pretty straight forward and the struts will slide out easily if you remove the correct bolt. A blind man can do the rear ones.

 

I didn't find it difficult at all. I used a Mcpherson type spring compressor and everything popped out easily. On Honda's you have to undo the wishbone and and strut. That's why I say it's easier on the Z.

 

This is very true...i spent more time on my s2k more than i ever spent time with the z. It was fairly easy to do specially the rears. Thanks a million for all ur help guys..I finally did it all today...
BTW, im very happy with the result for now. I havent seen any issues yet
