Default Brakes

I have a question about my front brakes. Does any light turn on letting you know your brakes are low or should you just know that it is time to change them. I got my Z used and I'm not sure if it is time to change them. I also have a question about aftermarket rims. Do you guys recommend 18's or 19's and what are some affordable rims around the 1,000 area. Thanks

They have their own warning, they squeak. And it's annoying.

If you pads get too low, it can also trigger the brake warning light to come on. Same thing if the brake fluid gets too low.

Brake pad wear seems to vary widely, depending on how hard you drive and brake the car. You should be able to look at them through the opening in the back of the caliper and see how much pad is remaining. The replacement limit is about 2mm thick.

Actually, IIRC the brake, ABS and slips lights can all come on in that case.

Here's a recent example... https://my350z.com/forum/brakes-and-suspension/212348-brake-light-coming-on-randomly.html

Nissan doesn't makes a brake pad sensor. The metal clip will make contact with the disc if pad is wear out and squeak. FYI - ABS sensor can't detects if your pads are wear out.
