Default Lifespan of Brembos

I'm looking at a 2006 GT Roadster with brembros, the car has 27000 miles, just wondering the mileage you guys are getting out of your brakes?

Thanks!

i'm wondering this as well. I'm scared to to autocross with it sometimes because i've already seen calipers go black from heating up. When should they need a rebuild?

i got about 28-30k out of the rear pads and just a little more out of the fronts. that was with maybe 10-15 autoxs or so. haven't replaced the calipers yet but i should probably start looking into it.

as for the calipers changing colors, that won't happen unless you subject them to prolonged high heat, like at a hpde event.

How pricey was it to do the pads? the dealership up here in Montreal is ridiculously expensive, I can drive it stateside if needed. Just trying to get an idea of maintenance costs.

i bought the pads (project mu b-force) and replaced them myself, so besides pad cost, free. it is really simple to replace the pads, and if you don't have any tools or a floor jack and jack stands, that is a much better way to spend your money than paying the dealership.

Auto-xing isn't going to make your calipers go black. It's not going to create nearly enough heat to do so.

If you're tracking the car and hitting 130 on the front straights with slicks, then there's more of a chance of that happening.

Pretty useless to use miles soley as a criteria, without data for application parameters like applications per mile, pedal force and duration of each application in millisecs cumlative.
People across US can get 25k or 75k from identical braking systems on identical cars.

An interesting device would connect to brake lights and count the total seconds, minutes, hours, days of application. Still you would have no clue as to pedal pressure or pad temperature.

Please dont be scared out of getting Brembos because of replacement costs.

The rotor costs have come way down since I've gotten my car, and pads are no more expensive than other cars with decent sized brakes. If your only doing street driving, then you might never have to rebuild the calipers.
