I'm about to swap out my OEM brakes with a set of Track model Brembos. I understand that my spare tire won't clear the Brembos. Does anybody know whether a spacer will work or it is absolutely necessary to get the spare from a track/GT model that will clear?

 

gotta get the bigger spare. it's not the spacer that is the only issue, there is a slightly increased diameter in the clearence of the inside of the wheel to the brake caliper.

 

just get a track spare i'm sure you'll find one on here as i did. If you get a flat that's probably the last thing you want to deal with is some spacer too. I had a flat with my normal spare, and i waited 2 hours for a flatbed, that wasn't fun. The guy i bought my track spare from told me the for emergencies, he thought the normal spare fits on the back, just not the fronts, so if you had a flat in one of the front tires, move a back tire to the front and use the spare to get to a gas station. If you had a flat in the back like me, you're screwed.

 

That's what I was afraid of. I'll find a spare for sure. I do a lot of road trips in the Z so I don't want to risk being stranded.

 

I'm in the same boat and have come to the same conclusion.

 

And unfortunately, it's been awhile since somebody has posted one FS in the Marketplace.

 

I think you'll need a 17" spare to clear brembos.

 

i made a WTB thread and got a brand new never used one for 35 bucks. I have several offers so i bet those people still have their spares as i type. Had to get one as well after the brembo install.

 

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead.

Is all the 06+ spare tire the same? or do I need specifically Track model spare?
