Once mounted and tesionsed on both sides of the spring, it'll remove the tension on the spring and allow marques1 to easily remove that nut. Reassemble in reverse order. Having access to a FSM would also help things immensely!

thanks guys i got a shop to do it. Now i have ran into another problem. I'm trying to put the strut back on the car and the holes dont seem to align right. is that because when putting the top back on the strut he moved it to far to the right or left? I thought the top would only go on one way.

^+1. You right the top will only go on one way. You just have to align it up. Don't worry, next time will be a lot faster. By the way, what type of springs did you go with?
