Default Brembo brake job

The Nissan dealer says our 05 350Z with Brembo brakes needs new rotors and pads on the front. He's talking $1000 for the rotors and $200 for the pads plus labor. Is there a cheaper solution than that?

You believe the stealership??? Did you measure the rotors to see if they are still in tolerance??? Do the work yourself, ask a friend for help, learn to wrench on your Z car

What's the tolerance and can the rotors be turned?

Yeah thats the dealership being dishonest and nissan stuff is pretty expensive for those brakes your better off buying after market and intalling yourself or taking it to them and having them install it if you dont feel comfertable.

Definitely a cheaper solution. Check with some sponsors about rotors and pads. I would try to find a reputable private shop to do your work for you vs taking it to the dealer. IMHO the dealer is only a last resort.

Not sure if they can be turned, though as long as they are within specs I see no reason why they cannot. Check with some of the dealers on this site also, remember some of them are as bad as the stealerships if not worse.

Why not GOOGLE this topic???

I suggest learning how to change the brake pads yourself. You can also change the rotors, although they can be a little bit more tough, especially if they are stuck on there pretty good.

Just think about the money you'd save... please don't pay the dealership more than you have to.

rotors and pads are an easy change. you could have a track ready setup with a lot of bite for about $700, and a good hour or two to install it. just get an impact gun, and an experienced friend in your case, but it can be had for much much cheaper!
