New Rotors and Brakepads $800?!?
I took my 05 Z to Nissan in Nashville, TN yesterday to get my brakes checked out. They said the front rotors needed to be replaced but the back rotors could be turned. I also had to get new brakepads all around. The total came out to be $800!! $330 for labor, $150 for the pads, and $130 a piece for the rotors ($260). I feel like I got ripped off in a major way! Should I call Nissan and complain to the parts & service manager? That just seems like a ridiculous amount for a brake job. Now that I've drove the car around for a bit, the new rotors are squeaking like crazy. Is that common for new rotors and brakes to do that?
Thanks for the help guys.
Thanks for the help guys.
if you went with OEM rotors and pads, they SHOULD NOT be squeaking. Performance rotors/pads on the other hand do tend to squeak, especially if they werent bedded in correctly.
Labor charge does seem a little high.
You should have purchased the rotors/pads (if OEM) through Performance Nissan. They have better prices than what you paid.

I work for an infinity dealershipe but we use all the same parts obvisouly, and for us labor is $120 an hour and if you get both front and back done its 4 hours labor. Our pads run about 40 for the front and 30 or so for the rear, so yeah you deffintley paid a lot for the pads but each dealership is going to have their own mark up.

Yeah, but your car was handled by "Nissan Trained/Certified Mechanics".

I paid the same for a stop-tech stage 2 kit. You should have looked around and weighed your options first. My stop-tech stage 2 kit is a night and day difference from stock.
yeah you got bent over but is probably the going rate for all trips to the dealer. I highly doubt you got a higher price than everyone else, i just think you got the royal dealership treatment.
You could have gotten high performance rotors, pads and lines for $500 put them on yourself in 2-3 hours. It is really easy when you buy new because the caliper/pad lines up with the rotors and shat doesn't need adjusting. Just unbolt and swap, really simple. Turning rotors damn near costs as much as buying new rotors. Lesson learned on your part i guess... DONT GO TO THE DEALER UNLESS ITS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. End of story.

Turning rotors is what took all the time. It's cheaper to just replace them, in the short run and for sure in the long run. Plus installing pads/rotors is about the easiest thing to do. LEARN
