SPC Field Rework Notice - 72120 & 72125 Control Arms Z/G35
Anyone else get this letter?
I'm wondering if I should even bother putting just a washer under the ball joint.
To: SPC Customers
Specialty Products Company is issuing a Field Rework Notice for part numbers 72120 and 72125 front upper control arms for the 350Z and G35 models.
Under extreme conditions the nut of the ball joint stud could pull through the spindle causing a separation of the upper control arm from the spindle and a sudden loss of control.
If the kit in question has been installed reusing the OE flanged lock nut no further action is required. If the kit was installed with the provided castle nut, then the enclosed washer should be installed following the included instructions. If you prefer to have a professional installer do the work, Specialty Products Company will reimburse up to $25.00 for work at a licensed garage. The original bill from the garage must be submitted to Specialty Products with the instruction sheet and a letting requesting reimbursement.
Please contact SPC customer service at 800-525-6505 if you have any questions on this.
Sincerely,
Specialty Products Company

I started a thread on this not to long ago, with hardly no replies. But I noticed this when first installing the nut. When I went to tighten it, it just pulled threw the spindle. I instantly knew that the stock one would work, after I made sure the threads where the same.
But I haven't seen a letter. Doesn't matter for me though.

I actually got around to put the washers in yesterday since I had some spare time to kill. I honestly didn't think it's necessary for daily street driving.
The only problem I encountered during the install was that the washer they provided was a little too thick. There wasn't enough room for the cotter pin. I was only able to fit one side of the cotter pin through.

I just got the letter and the washers today.
I noticed that when I torque the nut down against the spindle that the castle nut was creating some aluminum shavings. I didn't think much of it, but I'll either install these washers or use the factory nuts.
