Default Rear brakes squealing..

Fried them (willingly) at a track...

Need to replace or fix the annoying squeal I've got Carbotechs up front, which I'm not the happiest with.. so I don't really wanna put them on the rear.

Stillen's got some Metal Masters for the back.. but I don't really trust Stillen. And Nismo's coming out with R-Tune rear pads in a week... maybe I should order those ?

Hmm...

Did you apply and anti-squeel lubricant on the back of the pads or did you use the backing plates from the OEM pads? As for the Axxis Metalmasters... blah, I don't like them one bit.

Which Carbotechs are you using? I met Larry and Matt from Carbotech this weekend, and they have several different compounds available.

The squealing comes from the rear, which I haven't touched at all. The front's been replaced with Carbotech Bobcats..

I spoke with Matt from Carbotech about the rear pads a few weeks ago when I ordered my Panther Plus for the fronts. He advised going with the cheapest compound I could find for the rears, as they tend to get chewed up pretty quickly, and the heavy brake bias toward the front negates a lot of the benefit you might gain from going with more expensive, performance-oriented pads in the rear.

The cheapest rear pads I could find were the Axxis Metal Masters for $52 from Stillen. I only have a single track event (~80 track miles) and about 600 road miles on them, so I can't really speak to their durability, although their performance is no worse than the stock rears, and they don't seem to be squealing yet.

For the most part, I'd agree with Matt. However, after 4 track weekends, both sets of my pads have equal wear front and rear, thus showing that the brake bias isn't as heavy towards the front as most cars are.
