Question Tire Wear

I had to replace my fronts because cord was beginning to show on the inside edge block on the passenger side. The installer suggested an alignment, since that is obviously not normal. I informed him that I had an alignment done at Sears just a few months prior. Since I had it done at Sears, I had a warranty and took it back to have them do it over. They checked it and all was within parameters. The man that performed it said that type of wear is due to excessive toe in, but mine was in spec. The readout indicated right front camber 0.1 degree less(-1.3) and toe 0.01 degree more(0.09) than left. The left tire was worn in the same fashion but not even close to that of the right. Car is effectively stock. How is this possible?

Oops... Don't think it's feathering. It's a diagonal cross-section from the next tread block to the sidewall, even all the way around.

This has been an ongoing topic for years: https://my350z.com/forum/maintenance-and-repair/15758-tire-feathering-fyi.html.

It's more than likely that their alignment machine was not calibrated properly. While they say your alignment is "in spec", it's only as good as the calibration of the machine they're using.

That (un calibrated alignment machines) was the root problem of the 350Z Tire feathering problem that affected the '03 and 04 models.

In spec only means inside the extraordinarily wide oem spec designed to avoid warranty claims when brand new.

To achieve optimal tire wear you must set everything exactly at NOMINAL [normal] not just inspec.

i love it when they say "with-in paramiters".its pretty much the same as saying-its pretty close.Dont take your car to sears man-bad idea.If you dont go to the dealer for one, take it to the best shop that has a reputaion for being one of the best.definatly going to spend more money though.
Not sure what prices are around your area, but locally here you can go to backyard bob, sears, firstone and spend about $49.95,where as you can go to the dealer,or a specialty shop, spend $75-130.Plus if you go to the dealer-the tech wont get paid if its not right.so they put more effort into it.

“Location: Around” is cute but does not help members who may be able to suggest a suitable suspension shop.
