Brake rotor question
i just recently had some stoptech direct replacement rotors/nismo r-tune pads installed in my track model Z and noticed that in both front rotors there is a ring of the original protective coating still intact. it is approx.5mm but the ring surrounds the entire radius of the inside of the rotor. if u look at the pix below the hub part is black then there is a black ring, then the metallic part of the rotor, about approx.5mm on top of the black ring the protective coating is still visibile... i know its kinda confusing, but was something wrong in the install and how do i eliminate that awful looking ring? btw, the pix below is an example of how my rears look which is how i want my fronts to look without that ring of protective coating.
nothing wrong with the install.
stoptech rotors do not paint the entire unswept area of the rotor--that is up to the owner if they choose to do so.
how do you fix it? if you need to, turn your rotors. then paint the hub area and as much of the rotor as you want--the pads will wipe away any excess.
if you don't turn your rotors then sandblast it or wire wheel the rust ring then paint.
