Default "Thump Thump" Sound from Front Left Side

Hey!!

When I drive I get "thump thump" sounds from the front left slide. Sometimes the steering jerks left. This happens when I brake sometimes too.

Any ideas?

Could it be the Tie Rods or something else?

Thanks for you help!!

Your explanation is a bit vague. When you drive how, in turns, straight line...?

Do you have aftermarket sways? Loose sways at the links tend to make this sound. Did you check that wheel to make sure lugs are tight?

Well it goes in a straight line but tends to be a little loose and moves to the left randomly.

My suspenion is bone stock.

I did not check lugs and they should be tight.

Check your lugs. I had the dealer leave a loose wheel on my Z and it drove me nuts checking everything for the vibration until I check edf the lugs. They had left them so loose that I lost one and all the other ones were loose.

OMG! Glad to see that you and your Z are in good shape. Did the dealership offer anything back to you because of their mistake?

Took it to the shop and checked all the suspension components, no issues. It only happens when I go over bumps.

We thnk it might be the sway bar bushings. Hopefully that will solve the problem when they are replaced.

Any other ideas?

Well,

We replaced both front sway bar bushings - Thumping still
Exchanged the front left shock with another one - Thumping Still
Removed the Endlink and drove around - Thumping still

All joints seem to be fine as they were checked for play.

The lower ball joint (attached the steering knuckel) is not loose but the arm drops rapidly when released. It should decend pretty slow? Could it be this?

Any help would be great!! Thanks!!!

My suspension thumps too. It bothers me but I really dont have the time to invest into getting it looked at. Hmmmmm. I have the Hotch springs on there and the SPC camber fronts and rears. No clue what it could be.

<o></o>Well it ended up being the compression rod. It was pretty hard to get off but Advance Powerhouse (in Toronto) did a great job taking it off and replacing it. It was pretty tough to get off though. No more thumping sound which is nice.

This is a pretty common problem apparently (according to Nissan).

If you hear a sound coming from the left lower side of the suspension this might be it.
