Default We can all stop wondering if the stock 17" wheels will fit over the Brembo's

I got a set of front Brembo brakes from a Track model owner who installed a set of Stoptech's and it came along at the right time as I was about to pull the trigger on the 13" Stoptech's and these were a great deal.

I know it is filthy but I haven't cleaned it since the last track event. Now I need a set of tires for the 17's so I can save the Rays.

Any suggestions on a tire that is a good track tire but driveable to and from the track with the possibility of rain and not expensive. I don't feel like spending another 900 bucks as I did for the T1S'.

Here is a shot of the wheel installed:

I would say that between the spokes and the caliper there is about 1/2 inch at the closest spot as well as at the tightest spot between the caliper and the inside diameter of the wheel.

And here is one up close

Check on Kumho and Sumitomo, also a new tire from Continental, ContiExtremeContact which are making a big splash on Tire Rack. I have 4 backordered, to freeze the price for my wife's 99 Maxima w/225/55/16s. They are Ultra High Performance All Seasons. The other tires are Max or Ultra High Performance. Worth a look.

Are these tires just for tracking the car?

If so, I'd just get some DOT legal race tires that you can use to drive to the track, but I wouldn't have rain as a consideration. If it's rainy, wouldn't you just use your street tires that day.?

I'm not too familiar with track tires, but I've seen quite a few people with Kumho somethingorother...Victoracers I think is what they were.

Might try looking into those.

Well, I guess you just made my decision as to which rims to get for racing. I was worried they wouldn't fit over the Brembos. Thank you!

I mentioned rain because it is South Florida and unexpected showers pop up all the time so driving 120 miles to Sebring I might encounter some and I don't feel like surfing, otherwise I would use my Toyo's for street driving on my Rays.

Ahh, unexpected showers, I'm not familiar with those...sometimes it's nice to be in CA

After running my last race, I left them on for two weeks before switching back to the Rays for daily driving. I had no problems.

Just to verify also, there are no spacers involved? Just take off the 18's and put these 17's on???

Dirty-a$s rims

I think my Yokohama AVS Sports would make a decent track tire, pretty sticky and not-scary in the wet. Kumho is another good option too.

Falken Azenis Sport 225-45-17 and 245-45-17 shouldn't be a problem. Also the Yokohama A032 h compound is another option.

Default Are your Brembos on the right side?

I'm just wondering if you installed the calipers on the correct side. I just installed a set of AP Racing 6 piston & the bleed valves are located on the top side of the caliper. I see that your bleed valves are pointing down, seems like pointing up would allow the air bubbles to rise up & out. Not having looked at a stock Brembo install up close I have to question this.

Yes I did, those pics are wrong I was just doing a trial fit when I took the pics, after realizing that I went back and verified the fit by installing the correct side.

When I restored a 240Z I did that! couldn't bleed the damn brakes at all, so I took it to a shop, and after about 30 minutes of them screwing with it, they finally realized what I had done! doh
