Default Getting Brakes done at Dealership

I'm in need of getting my brakes done, and the dealership is telling me that I have to replace the rotors every time I get the brakes done because the rotors cannot be turned. Is this true? Please get back to me asap. Thanks.

Nope it's not true. The rotors don't necessarilly need to be cut if they don't have any grooving or cupping. But they can be cut. There is a minimum rotor thickness if your below that then you need new rotors.

Why woudl you bring your car to the dealership to get brakes? They will rape you .

So can the stock rotors be turned then?

like Jet said, there has to be a minimun thickness required. if you are below that, you need new ones.

Does anyone have any places they would recommend in the Corona area to take their 350z?

Go to the Regional forum with your question . . . you'll have a better chance getting some recommendations there.

I have not measured or inspected the rotors. So the word of the mechanic who did is more valuable than mine.

I wouldn't have a dealership do anything as basic as brakes. I seriously doubt as well that an 04 Z needs new rotors already, unless you or the previous owner had some extreme track pads that just ate the shyte out of them.

Pads can be replaced by a basic garage shop for a lot cheaper, or you can do it yourself, not too hard. Tricky parts can just be getting the parts off and sometimes getting the pads out/in, getting teh calipers opened up. All not too hard though if you ask advise from someone who has done it at least a few times.

How much they wanting to charge you anyway? Are they going to powerbleed the brakes too?

Another listless 350z owner about to get jacked by a dealer.
We should have a thread dedicated to similar links. Hows about -
FIND A MECHANIC YOU TRUST. Locate that person through the
site and you'll be fine. Listen to the dealer at your own risk. He
is far more interested in your wallet than your vehicle.

Do not take it to the dealer. You will get raped. Take it to a local mechanic. Much cheaper.
