Default Headache please help...spring or not to spring!

Hey guys/gals, I have a 03 Z Touring. Got bored, picked up some G35 19s rays and thought about dropping with Pro Kit or GF210. Thinking about what springs to buy, I noticed that I can barely fit two fingers from tip of tire to tip of fender in stock trim F/R. So,...

1) How many fingers can you fit in a stock Z?
2) How many fingers can you fit in lowered with Pro Kit F/R?
3) How many fingers can you fit in lowered with GF210 F/R?

Man, I think my car came lowered as new cuz my friends Zs seem to be less low and they ask me if I lowered for the longest time? Hahaha!

1 more,

4) Do you have to re-program G35 tmps to work with Z or does it just automatically work with the Z?

Thanks a bunch!

ohh my god......

dude, please use the search button. You can search specfically within this section and it will answer all of the questions you may have about this.
350tech will also help a great deal. its another site. Google it.

I am not sure manufactures rate their drop in "fingers", so that might be hard to answer.

Default Dude...

Dude chill out...you tried searching "springs, eibach, gf210"...its like searching "computers" on google, too many f'n threads - hence the headache...and btw fingers sometimes makes things much simpler than basic math, cuz suspension setups tend to be different from car to car (even thou same model). Anyways man, that was pretty cold. Haha!

1,2,3. Your asking the wrong question.

4. Sorry I have no clue.

Oem ride height has a measurement, it's published in the FSM (Factor Service Manuel).

Grab tape measure and measure from the ground to the to of each wheel arch. Compare your numbers with these numbers.
Front: 26.89"
Rear: 27.80"

All the springs your considering have published drop specs that tell you how much they drop the car vs oem. I keep a word file on hand that I made to respond to question's simular to yours.

Oem spring rates

350Z 2003/2004
Front:314 Rear:342

350Z 2004.5 to 2008
Front:314 Rear:427

Eibach 350Z progressive springs 1”/1”
Spring rates in LBS initial/final front 296/384 initial/final rear 316/421

Eibach 350Z sportline progressive springs 1.2"/1.2"
F: 239/400 R: 257/435
Very wide spreads between the softer initial rates and firmer peak rates.

RSR 350Z linear springs .6”/.6”
Spring rates in LBS 345/417

Hotchkis 350Z Linear springs .6”/.8”
Spring rates in lbs 340/330

Tein S-tech 350Z springs .7“.6“ (fronts are slightly progressive, rears are linear)
Spring rates in LBS 386/402 (estimated front intial rate is 327lbs)

Tein H-tech 350z linear springs .3”/.2”
Spring rates in LBS 358/375

Progress Technology progressive springs 1.0”/1.0”
Spring rates in LBS 425/385 (final rates only, softer intial front progressive rate unknown)

Tokico D-spec shock & spring package
350Z - DSK512 - 375f/375r - Linear Springs 1"/1.5"

Tanabe GF210 Series 350Z progressive springs 1”/1.2”
Spring rates in LBS 336/375 (only peak rates are published, softer initial progressive rates unknown) Not much stiffer vs oem, IMO Eibach prokit is a better choice because of that springs higher spring rates which should help keep you off the bumpstops more often.

Tanabe NF210 Series 350Z progressive springs 1.2”/1.2” higher
Spring rates in LBS 314/353
Little to no increase in spring rate over oem, little to nothing added to keep you off the bumpstops

Swift 350Z linear springs .8”/.6”
Spring rates in LBS 336/364

Swift 350Z Spec-R progressive springs 1.2”/1”
Spring rates in LBS intial/final Front: 291/392 Rear: 280/448

Vogtland 350z progressive springs 1”/1”
Spring rates in LBS initial/final front 257/354 initial/final rear 285/422

DR21 super sport 15mm drop
Spring rates in lbs initial/final front 246/398 initial/final rear 252/409
Very wide spreads between the softer initial rates and firmer peak rates.

Kg/mm DRacing progressive springs 1.2”/1.2”
Spring rates in LBS initial/final front 252/454 initial/final rear 252/482 rear
Very wide spreads between the softer initial rates and firmer peak rates.

Espelir 350Z progressive springs 10mm drop F&R
386/515 (softer initial progressive rates are unknown)

H&R sport progressive springs 350Z 1.3”/1” drop
Spring rates in LBS 370/400 (peak rates only, softer initial rates are unknown)

Your method of measuring ride height is retarded. Different tires and wheel widths/offsets will make your fingers fit differently...not to mention different people's fingers...

Break out a tape measure and stop wasting others time who might be willing to help you out.
