I just finished flushing my brake fluid in advance of an upcoming track day. I now have a strange noise at what I think is the master cylinder.

I have bleed the brakes twice and I think they still feel a little spongy but I am thinking that maybe I have some air at the MC. Has anyone else had this problem? It's almost like a squishing sound down by the pedal.

Did you allow the level in the resevoir to fall below the Min line and ingest air? Unless you did that, you shouldn't have any problems with bubble in the system, especially up in the MC.

I had problems when swapping calipers out and got air back into the ABS pump. No strange noises but a definite soft pedal. It takes a power bleeder to really get the air out once that happens.

 

I was careful to keep the fluid topped off. We did get air in though as me and my friend got out of sync once. We were able to get that air out and bleed everything again just to make sure.

Not enough time to get a power bleeder. I read on here somewhere that you can crack the lines coming out of the MC while pressing the pedal down to get any air out of it. That's the only thing I can think of that would make that noise.

It may be the ABS pump. Would that normally bleed out with repetition as I do not have a pump.

 

For some reason, the abs pump is stubborn. I bled mine 5 or 6 times and still couldn't get a hard pedal. Once I got a hold of the power bleeder, a couple huge bubbles came out of the front calipers.

What kind of shops usually have one of these power bleeders? I really need to bleed the system on my car, but the only tire shop in town who apparently had one blew me off the day I came in to bring my car in.

Don't wanna go to a dealership either, i'm sure they will want some ridiculous price for the service.

 

I bought a Motive power bleeder. It's basically a garden sprayer configured to pump brake fluid. They're relatively cheap ($60) and easy to use. Pros use one that connects to a compressor air supply.

I suspect you could get it done at any tire/brake store or any mechanic should be able to do it.
