Default BC Racing BR-Type Coilovers Height Comparison

For all of you interested in BC Racing's products and wondering how low these will/can go -

BR-Type Coilovers:

BC Racing BR-Type standard springs (rears set as low as possible, front set moderately low):

BC Racing BR-Type shorter rear springs (rears set as low as possible, front set to match the rear):

Yes, the fronts can go lower. You could set the front of the car on the ground if you wanted to. If you cut the rear spring mounts, you might get a little more drop out of the rear as well. If you really want to do an extreme lowering job on your car, I'd suggest a true coilover setup instead of the BR-Type with the separated (factory) style rear shock and spring setup.

*April 2009 Update*
Springs appear to have settled a bit. Here is the current height 6 months after install:

**April 2011 Update*
Comparison of short and normal springs. I swapped back to the normal springs.

Depends on how low you are, how the damper is set. Are you looking for ride quality in a slammed stance (chitty as normal) or in a normal lowered/track stance?

I can't really comment on ride quality just yet. I had SPC camber arms installed at the same time as the shorter springs and it needs an alignment bad. Getting that done tomorrow afternoon.

dang... that's really all that it'll go? not sure if its just b/c of the 18inch wheels or not but there still looks to be a tiny gap at both front an back... i was hoping for tire tucking low.

It could go lower in the front, but it wouldn't be even with the rear. You'd have to cut the spring mounts in the rear to go any lower out back. As it stands, this is where I wanted the height to be. Denver roads are not so friendly towards lowered vehicles. Most of the neighborhood roads here are designed for snow melt drainage and have this awesome concrete ditch effect at the intersections.

a bc rep. said they can get them lower... i'd probably guess they just use shorter springs.

I'm not looking for looks, I'm looking for strictly the performance of these coilovers. I was wondering how well or how much improvement do these perform at the track compare to stock, teins (coilovers), or the nismo set-up.

And since these can't be exactly swap out easily, I would like to know how they ride as a daily driver. Are they more harsh compare to stock, teins (coilovers), or the nismo set-up.

Thanks for any info.

I run a 20mm drop on my car and the dampers set pretty soft and its just fine. A little stiffer than stock , but very streetable. My car is also a DD.

The track record speaks for itself , BC's G35 is doing really well in Time Attack. Personally i like them on the track , and it took me two events to get them dialed in to my liking.
