Default Fluid dripped out when I decompressed front drivers caliper

I just changed my front pads and when I de-compressed my front drivers caliper some fluid came out. Not alot though. Is that ok or is something busted? BTW my other pads were very low.

If it's coming out of your caliper, like around the piston, etc... You'll need either a rebuild or a new caliper.

Fluid in and around your brakes is bad in ANY amount. Prob a bad piston seal. Check the line fitting as well.

The fluid was coming from the wheel lining behind the wheel not the actual caliper or piston. It only did this once as I was de-compressing the piston with the c-clamp so that I could install the new pads. As the c clamp pushed the piston back in I could hear the fluid being pushed back up the line. It doesn't leak or drip any other time just that once while pushing the pistom back in.

That's not de-compressing thats compressing!

Did you remove brake fluid from the resevoir as you COMPRESSSED the pistons?

Check your brake line make sure both ends are tight. You have a leak somewhere.

The line is attached to the back wall itself and goes to your caliper. It could be spraying off in that area. It isn't behind the liner where the attachments are.

When you compress the pistons it forces brake fluid back into the brakes master cylinder resevoir. If you put enough pressure into the master cylinder res it will force fluid out. Check to see if the resevoir is full/overflowing. If you topped off the resevoir with brake fluid when it looked low then you will need to remove the excess with a turkey baster or large syringe.

That sounds like what happened. Fluid didn't spray or squirt, it just dripped for a few seconds then stopped after I compressed the piston. Car sat outside while I was at work for 8 hours, not a single drop of fluid anywhere. How can I check the res, I'm a total noob.

Open the plastic cover makred "brake" on the drivers side under the hood and look at the brake resevoir fluid level.

When I work on the brakes, I remove the reservoir cap, and wrap a towel around the reservoir.

Thanks for the info everyone. It was the res overflowing, I checked this morning and the level was above max. I'm gonna change the fluid next spring.
