Default Got a set of hotckis sways. How strong??

Hey guys. Jus got a set of Hotchkis sways. They won't go on for another 2 weeks since I'll be in bermuda next week. Just wondering.. I reaaaally love the really tight strong race feel. How strong shoudl I set it up?? I know one bar has 4 holes. And one has 3.. Should I go to the tightests on all of them?? 3rd hole on the one with for and all 3 on the one with 3?? I really don't wanna have over steer or anything. But I know my rear kicks out a lot. But I doubt thats a prob.. I'm not all to knowledgeable on suspension so any one more knowledgebale on me to throw a few points out would be great.. I got an 08 base.. No lsd in yet.. If that helps. Thanks guys.

The Hotchkis install instructions give a pretty safe recommended starting setup. I started there and then adjusted for a bit less understeer on the track. Your swaybar adjustment will be closely tied with the other parts of your setup, such as your tire widths (front to rear). I run 265/35/18 all around so my setup probably wouldn't apply if you're running the more common 245 front, 275 rear setup.

mthreat, what did you settle on for your street settings with the square tire setup? I'm in the process of tuning mine for a near square 265/35 275/35

OP, I would highly recommend aftermarket endlinks. They are expensive but I got a very harsh ride, binding and noises from my factory endlinks in the first 1500 miles. check out Z1's powergrids in the vendor marketplace.

I started off with the middle hole for the rear bar and the second softest for the front. I stuck with this for a while then changed the rear to the stiffest setting and did not like it as much so I went back to the way I originally had it. When comparing them both to the stock bars, the rear bar is much stiffer than the stock so keep that in consideration.

Full soft rear with 1 up from full soft front. Drive for a little bit, and adjust as needed.

Yea I was considering doing the bar with 3 holes ... Which I'm guessing is the front one?? And the bar with the 4 holes doing the 2nd closest to the bar which if I read it right would be going stiffer??

Yea I'm gonna check out endlinks.. I'll eventually get all of it done.

I just wasn't sure of the feel. I really wanna get it right the first time ya no.
They'll go on today depending on gf issues.. Meaning if she comes by me today she'll be at my house as I get home from work.... If not I can get them done lol.

Can't wait to put them on.

4 hole is the front, set it to the second hole (from the back of the bar/car) The rear is the 3 hole bar, set that on hole one (also from the back of bar/car)Drive it for a week and figure out if you need to make changes. Changes take about 10 minutes for both front and back.

Everyones setting will be different, I gave you what i ran on mine with best results with my stock springs and shocks. I run a bit different setting now with coilovers, and very from track to track.

I checked my swaybars tonight when I was doing an oil change. My rear bar is set on the middle hole, and the front is on the next-to-stiffest hole. In other words, on the front, if hole 1 is softest and hole 4 is stiffest, mine is set on hole 3. It's a pretty good setup for me with 265/35/18 all around, although I haven't tried setting it up for even less understeer.. maybe there's still room for improvement.

The 350z is originally setup for pushing or understeer. I removed most of mine with the front Hotchkis on the stiffest hole and the rear on one hole from the stiffest. With the adjustable EDFC Teins I balance the Hotchkis by adjusting the front and rear coilovers in the car to offset the conditions on the track to promote under or over steer. The Teins allow me to do this while I am driving on the track due to the controller inside the car.

Begin with the Hotchkis recommendations and tune from there. I would caution against using other peoples settings. Since there are so many factors that affect handling balance (tire size, compound, shocks, springs, etc), a given setting F/R can affect you much differently than it did me.

There are a few brands available. I've been using SPL parts endlinks, they're stout and I've been happy. http://www.splparts.com
