Hello my question is, if i choose to lower my car on springs only, will my warranty be voided? im thinking tein or tenabe? thanks for the input. and i have also search and didnt find any previous theards on this topic
Here's the deal with suspension mods...they put stress on other suspension parts.
for example:
Changing the offset of the wheels can ruin wheel bearings.
Springs (lowering or raising) put extra stress on items such as ball joints, control arms
sways put excess strain on endlinks, and the mounts of those endlinks
So if you change one of those parts, and a corresponding part fails. its going to be called your fault.

use NISMO parts. Covered under warranty if installed by Nissan Dealer. More expensive though, and may not be exactly what you are looking for in drop.
Yeah, they do have to prove that the part caused the damage. but for example if you use other parts with the same specs as the NISMO parts, and have a very good mechanic with some credentials behind him, it will make it more difficult to prove the damage in court. I know numerous mechanics who have way more experience and credential then the Nissan techs.
Basically it is he say vs. she say in court.
If the dealer is not mod friendly you are out of luck. If they are you are fine. So find a mod friendly dealer first.
And I am not for sure if your dealer would ask for proof that the Nismo parts were installed at a Nissan dealer.
If you have extended warranty from another company, you could use that for repairs. Dealerships like to make money, so since it is from an outside source many dealers will fix your vehicle under an extended warranty.
As insurance always find yourself a good mechanic that knows your type of vehicle. I have taken my car to the dealership for repairs, and the techs there many times do not handle your car with care, they peel out, drive fast, park cars too close together. before you leave your vehicle, I suggest you do a walk around the vehicle, peferably with pictures, or a check list, and have them sign it.... cause chances are you will get it back with some damage...and the will always say it was already there.

Springs would likely only affect the warranty on your shocks/struts as they will have reduced life with shorter springs, but then it really does depend on the dealer, the guy you're working with, and how his day is going. That's how it goes.
Regardless, I wasn't trying to be a d1ck, just trying to get this guy some feedback on his question. I couldn't care less, my car is no longer under warranty and I consider that a good thing.
That could definitely be. Ultimately, like I said previously, I think it really does come down to what dealership you go to, who you work with, and how their day is going to.

I'm at 45,000 with zero real issues. The engine is stock and I'm still on the original clutch and no grinding. I seem to be doing better than most.
My motto is, stuff breaking is just a reason to upgrade. I think most people on this site share the same mentality. Being under warranty has it's benefits, I had the car while it was under warranty as well. But in the end, unless it's the motor or trans I really wouldn't care and would rather fix it myself to avoid all of the BS. The only work I had done was a window regulator. At this point, if it was the motor, maybe I would take that as it was just my time to swap something else in or rebuild and go FI.
Have a good weekend!
Edit: and I'm sorry to hear about your trans, there are quite a few people that have had that problem, some even 3-4+ times.
Poor guys, I really wouldn't want to be in their shoes if they were out of warranty or the dealership didn't cover it. But hey, at least it isn't a 20 grand GTR trans!

Dealers have nothing to do do with Nissan warranty as they will do any work Nissan instructs them and pays them to do. Unless you **** them off then they can legal tell you to go away forever and find someone else to work on your vehicle, as they are an independent business.
To many people misunderstand what a Manufacturers Warranty is!
