Cool Ordering a Megan BBK

I have been on the fence about whether I want a BBK or not because I don't do much time at the track...But the price is too good to miss...

RA has a crazy sale going and I can get a 6pot front 4pot rear setup for $2825 right now, BNIB. I am seriously on the fence about this! This price is unheard of for a BBK brand new! Think I should pull the trigger?

Here is the pic from the holiday special thread. Front

Rear

All thoughts/comments/snide remarks/jokes welcome.

Agreed. Megan has ZERO resale value to boot.

Can someone point me to a link? Who here has a Megan kit that has first hand experience? I have never seen a Megan kit being resold so I don't know the resale value. and I wouldn't pay another grand for a used AP kit because I don't have the money.

if you don't track your car then what's the point of a bbk? but i guess if 2800 bucks is cheap to you then forget about my opinion. heh 2800 can pay for a lot of track days and r compounds for me.

AP and brembo are the norm for the track...but the megan seems cool too..just haven't heard enough press about them.

The only thing I have seen about them is that Wa2good(Scott) tested them and said they were good. I haven't seen any posts yet that say they are crap. Is there any posts from anyone with the brakes that has anything to contribute?

Also, I don't track my car a lot. But it does see some time here and there.

There were a couple or so people at the G35 site that went in on the group buy. Try and ask around over there.

The one guy who I tracked down, said he had squeeking brakes and a couple other issues with them. PM the guys on the confirmed GB list.

And you gave it. I gave mine. The world still turns. To each their own.

Cheston knows whats up. I've never seen their stuff used on anything but riced out 240's, and I definitely would not trust such a critical component of my car to a company with literally no track record (pun intended).

If you want their stuff on your car, then good on ya, but I'd save up a little more and go for something from a reputable, track-tested manufacturer.

better yet,... i've had experience w/ the megan stuff on 240's
with suspension pieces such as tc rods / tie rods and such.. within 1 month most of the parts have failed.. if that is suspension and this is brakes.. i would be vary wary.. you may very well end up with worse brakes from factory...

Please try not to cheap out... and to be quite honest if you dont track you dont need them..

The thing I would worry about is that I am pretty sure Megan is just rebranded parts. didn't someone post a catalog from a Chinese manufacturer with wholesale prices, and branding costs a little while ago for all these parts? coilovers, brake kits, etc.

but either way, Megan is not a brake company... I would stick to brake companies..

I would say you do not need it if you are not tracking the car very often. Save your money for something else. Now if you want it just for looks...well, that is only your decision.

BTW: you get that turbo kit done? Hit me up, I want to check it out

I also had experience with Megan stuff for 240's. Was not impressed AT ALL. Megan Racing is garbage. Fact. Sure it doesn't snap and break off, that's great, but I expect more out of parts I'm shelling out good money for.

$2800 is a lot to spend on something that hasn't been proven to work well (other than that guy that was banned, not too credible). And honestly if you're not racing the car on a track there is no point. Why not get a nice front brake kit rather than getting a mediocre kit for front and rear?

I had AP Racing, love it. I have Rotota 15" 8/4 setup, love it as well.

For that money, I'd go for Wilwood kit.

I would get a new set of wilwood brakes from TCE, just google "TCE brakes" for about the same price. Canadian's car has Megan brakes on it , and the rotors are crap, they wear out really f ing quick.
