Question Installed Factory Brembo calipers, question on Brake Master Cylinder

Hi everyone, I just installed the factory Brembo front and rear brake calipers, goodridge stainless steel lines w/ factory brake pads and rotors. I bleed the system 2 times and ensure no more air coming out. However, the pedal is a little bit mushier. It does bite and stop very well once the pedal hit the mid height and it will get stiff. Therefore, I am just wondering if the brake master cylinder is different on the track version vs performance version. (Mine is 2004 performance edition) , anyone have any idea?

Another problem is, after replacing the Brembo brakes, whenever I step on the brake pedal, it makes a click noise right at the very top of the stroke. Is it because some air still trapped inside the brake master cylinder? Any input will be appreciated!

Thanks,
Pat

P.S. Thanks Anthony (06SC4dr) for the super fast shipping and very well shipping packaging!! Very smooth transaction!!

Update: The mushy feeling is gone, i believe it is becoz the brake pads and rotors are not bed in yet, since they were new. So after driving and braking for a while, it becomes normal again.

The clicking noise is also gone, what I did is just adjusted the VDC switch by loosing, back off a few threads and re-tighten it.

Thanks for all the inputs, guys! I really appreciate it!

I did some research. Found the site http://www.nissanparts2u.com/ and browse through their online catalog.

There are 2 different master cylinder:
Master cylinder, 350z, w/o base model 04-05
Master cylinder, 350z, w/base model 03-08

Brake Booster:
Brake booster, 350z, coupe, w/o base model, w/o 18" wheels 04-05
Brake booster, 350z, coupe, w/o base model, w/18 wheels 04-05
Brake booster, 350z, coupe, w/base model 03-05
Brake booster, 350z, convertible 04-05

Seems like the difference will be between BASE model and W/O BASE MODEL

So since mine is performance model, I am assuming I have the same brake booster and brake master cylinder are the same as the track model? Am i right?

If it is mushy, you still have air in your line. Give it another good bleed.

Looking at some of the parts listing like mentioned above, they listed different, yet most had the same part numbers.

After trying a few hard braking today, I think the new brembo is working properly and stop really really well. That kind of reminded me when I used to have a 240sx s14, I upgraded my stock single piston brake to z32 4 pistons brake. I also had the same feeling as this time due to a smaller brake master cylinder. So I think all air is out from the system and performing normally. I guess I will check with Nissan tommorrow and ask for the part number. I will keep this updated.

Just called Nissan, and they told me that the only difference between brake master cylinder will be the base model and w/o base model. So any model beside base actually have a different (larger?) master cylinder.

I also found that the clicking noise is from the VDC brake switch, I adjusted it and seems like the noise is less noticeable but still there. Dunno why it happens all of a sudden, i may try to switch it from other Z and see.

See Absence feature: (from 350 z-tech .com)
* HID Headlights (2003-2005)
* TCS/VDC: Traction Control / Vehicle Dynamic Control
* LSD: Limited Slip Differential
* Leather Seats
* Cruise Control
* Aluminum Pedals
* Auto dimming rear view mirror with Home Link
* Bose Sound System
* Brembo Brakes
* TPS: Tire Pressure Sensors

VDC switch is for the Vehicle Dynamic Control. It has 2 switches on the brake pedal, one is regular brake switch, another one is VDC switch and it probably uses for notifying the VDC computer when the driver applies the brake.

I'll bet your problem lies in the technique in which you bled your brakes. These cars are not to be bled in the traditional manner. I've posted on this before a few years back....

Just do a search to get the right sequence.

Good luck.

My brakes are working perfectly now. I bled it from RR > LF > LR > RF. Outer bleed hole then the inner one. I will do a search again and see what I can found once I get home, thanks for your advise tho
