Default Bilstein Coil over set PSS9.

I just ordered this kit and im pondering whether to throw it on or not. I wanted to see what it looked like so i ordered it through my wholesaler in which i can return it at anytime. My ? is if anyone has installed this kit and if they like it or not?

Here is some info on the kit.

Bilstein Coil-Overs provide you with an exceptional blend of ride and handling with the added feature of height and dampening adjustability. With coil overs from Bilstein you get shocks and springs that are engineered together. The result is incredible handling with ride that is tuned for the street. Forget the notion that coil overs are only to be used in racing - they are now the perfect package for your streetcar. Bilstein coil overs have ride-height adjustments and 9-way adjustable shock dampening. To insure maximum performance, these systems utilize Bilstein's superior monotube gas shocks, featuring:

# Largest available piston diameter for greater sensitivity and precise control.

# Patented digressive piston head design and deflective valving instantly reacts to changing road conditions.

# Monotube design dissipates heat more effectively than a twin tube shock for cooler, more efficient operation and longer life.

# Lighter weight reduces wear and tear on suspension components.

Performance Suspension System with 9 Damping adjustments, is the "race inspired" fully adjustable ride height system featuring mono-tube gas shock absorbers with nine precise damping adjustments. The system includes adjustable mono-tube gas shock absorbers with nine precise compression and rebound settings from comfort to competition, front and rear application specific, progressive rate springs allow accurate adjustment of vehicle ride height and center of gravity for the level of performance you seek.

I love them!!! its like driving Lincoln town car dropped. Its so smooth. I actually had them all set to the softest # 1 setting. But then realized i had to stiffen up the rear to # 4 and works like a charm.

Congrats! I'm waiting for a used set to ship. I know all cars are different but few Q's for you...

1. Are these lowered as much as they will go in the pics? rears look a tad high. I know people sometimes remove the collars to get them lower...are these the collars pictured here above the spring? What is there purpose? If they are removed do they damage the strut?

2. Did you find the lower rear adjustable control arm was necessary? How bought an adjustable front?

Thanks...I'm new to coilovers and trying to figure all this out before they arrive.

The rear camber adjustment is a necessity when throwing on bigger rims for alignment issues. You need to adjust the rear camber so the tires do not wear out on the edges.

The collar or the spring seat is probably recommended to use due to the fact that it may be way to low and or the spring will not have support and bounce around. The stock spring is much bigger in diameter and the new spring would not fit the rubber top seat mount.

The rear is not set to the lowest due to numerous obstacles i would not over come if it were.

Do you mean this literally as in speed bumps or figuratively?

Since your comming off of a oem 2003 suspension which was notorious for bounce and freeway porposing, I am not surprised that the Pss9/10 strikes you as smooth. Though discribing is a Lincoln town car to me totally misses the mark, it's simply a excellent setup that hits the bullseye mark on proper engineering ride and drive quality wise, something the folks at Dearborn no little to nothing about.

Be carefull about setting the setup stiffer then 5 front or rear. because of how the internal adjustment system is designed, it allow's for too much mid and high speed contol, more stiffness but in the wrong places. Excellent product, best kept to the softer settings. You can set them as you please, just telling you what I discovered from my evaluation and on the shock dyno, plus I got a education when I was present when mine were apart for revalving.

Thge reference to a town car was on how smooth they feel when driven only. Hence why they are used as limo service cars as well. The ride is amazing.

I had only set the rear to 4 only due to when hitting bumps at a higher speed the rear jumped a tad with the box in the back as well. Now it feels much stiffer with out the hop and i love it.
