Default Okay to do just the REAR brakes for now?

My rear brakes are quite a bit lower than my fronts (why is so common on RWD Nissans/Infinitis?). My last pad change was at 11k miles (the rears were very close to worn), and I'm now at around 26k. I'd say there's about 25-30% of pad life left on the rears, and 45-50% on the fronts.

I was curious if I could do the rears only, and then the fronts months later since they still have so much life left?

Brake pads lasted 15,000 miles? You must do some serious braking!

I don't mean to toot my own horn here, but I'm the type of driver who gets on the brakes early, I like to be cautious. If I see a red light way up ahead, I don't hit the brakes 10-feet before I get to the light, I apply them from a good distance for a smooth stop. Same goes for when I'm in traffic, I keep a large distance between the car in front and I never hit the brakes right before I'm about to collide with the car - I apply the brakes as soon as I see others in front of me doing it, no matter how far I am.

And traffic is another reason why my pads wear out, I live in NYC and so I endure bumper-to-bumper traffic non-stop, and a lot of my driving is stop-and-go (stop signs, traffic lights). It takes a toll on the pads much faster.

getting on the brakes early does help save some life.

the stop and go traffic explains it.

i coast a lot to time traffic lights. helps me keep my upper 20's mpg out of my car too! lol

Hear you on the traffic Arnold K. In CT I get stuck in it a bit too.

My front & rear brakes are fine and have lasted a LONG time, especially my rears. You have an AT so you canno take advantage of engine braking but I downshift all the time and I am usually only on the brakes from about 20 MPH or less. Anything above that I am downshifting and rev-matching. I am sure ZDayz took some life out of the pads though lol -- was downshifting there too, but when I was HEAVY on the brakes too haha.

For the rear brakes doing 10% of the total braking I really wouldn't be worried about it.

Well, good news. I bought a bright-as-day LED flashlight and took a good look at the pads and they're actually a lot better than what I thought. The rears have about 50-60% and the fronts are 60-70%.

1) I actually can engine brake in manual mode, I just choose not to.

2) I LOVE your AME Tracers! Sooo gorgeous. Are they 18s or 19s? If they're 18s and you ever wanna sell them...let me know.
