Which struts to go with TANABE Gf;s?
I got the GF210s and the Tokico Blues. I've had em on the car for about 10k miles now. The setup isn't great by any stretch of the imagination, but they do the job for a budget mod. I also don't expect the Tokicos to last forever. I put them on in the meantime until I get some coilovers.
Just to add this in, if you consider coilovers and you're concerned with longevity and cost is a factor, I would stay away from coilovers. You'll be A LOT better off with a decent strut/spring combo that will be cheaper vs. getting an entry coilover that will not last very long (need a rebuild) and will not perform as well. Based on my research, from performance perspective, I concluded that entry coilovers are a waste of money and it's more beneficial to go with a quality strut and spring for less money.
I have a really hard time with that being accurate. When I see a picture of a oem rear shock next to a rear HP that shows a differance I'll gladly accept it, but,........
To me it's a myth and it's doesn't make sense for a number of reasons. HP's are a oem replacement shock that isn't ment to be run with stiffer lowering springs and D-specs are. Which is why the D-spec does have a shorter rear shock and piston rod length and is valved to run with up to 450lbs spring rates. And it's why the 350Z HP is not sold with a Tokico lowering spring like you can get with the D-spec shock and spring kit.
