It's hard to say how accurate Nissan's published weights for the vehichle actually is. 2006 to 2007, arguably went through the largest powertrain change ever for the Z, and are we to believe it didn't gain a single pound. Both 6MT and 5AT, have identical weights to the previous year.

Look at the 2005 Anniversary Edition, that's the only case on that chart of published curb weights, where the delta between the manual and automatic transmission is larger than 20lbs.

Brakes are "below average" in our Zs, according to the last Auto Issue of CR magazine. One of the areas that need improvement in Zeds. On the other hand, the cooling system, engine, AT (not so the MT), etc., are excellent. There's always a rattle or a spongy-like feel in our beaZts' brakes; mine stops just fine, though.
