front lower arms and rear subframe bushings... install time?

Default front lower arms and rear subframe bushings... install time?

I need to change my lower front arms bushing.. the right one is gone and I was thinking about the SPL ones...
at the same time I'd like to have the rear subframe bushing replaced because I still have the feeling that the rear end is "moving" (I already have all the spl differential bushings there)

do you know how much time that takes or should take in a shop that knows what is doing? so far the best quote I got is "not that much"... but I don't like this kind of quotes

Just about every shop I've talked to told me to bring the lca's to a machine shop to press in the SPL's, not many wanted to do it themselves.

I don't think it's a tough job at all, just most shops don't want the liability of f'in something up pressing bushings into aluminum arms.

This is on my todo list over the christmas holiday break...

I think that is part of their... "not that much"... they don't know exactly and don't want to commit... I just wondering if somebody already did the job and how much was that.

The fronts are easy, you just need 2x17mm wrenches and a19mm wrench and less than 20 minutes to get the arms off once you jack it up and remove the wheels. Just deliver the arms to a shop yourself to have the bearing pressed in. The rear, its going to be pricy

My shop quoted me 3.30 hours to drop/install the diff, replacing each bushing was 15 bucks a pop. Ends up being around 500 bucks.

Doing the lca's this weekend, removing them myself and having the shop press in the bushings should be around 100 bucks with a small break. Same shop quoted me 1.6 hours labor just to remove lca's and about 300 bucks to do all.

I think you are referring to installing the SPL differential bushings. I believe the OP is asking about subframe bushings such as the ones we offer from Whiteline

This kit will take longer than 3.3 hrs to install as removing the entire subframe is required. We'll be installing my kit over the upcoming holidays as we have a new press in route to the shop as we speak.

Got a quote on subframe bushings, 6.75 hours +/-... It's one of the rare things I'm not terribly interested in undergoing myself either...

It was my fault in assuming so but I'll clarify the next time we speak. With the diff work, he told me it would be about half that since most of the stuff in the way would already be off.

im also going to change the sub frame bushings while im at it? any suggestions?

For the rear diff bushings (holds the pumpkin to the subframe), the only set available that I have ever seen are from SPL

These can be purchased as just the fronts, just the rear, or as a full set. They replace the factory liquid filled units that are prone to going bad (especially the rear one that sits in the subframe).

For the rear subframe, the Whiteline ones are a good choice and come as a complete kit

These replace all the bushings where the rear subframe mounts to the chassis.

Ideally, you want the subframe out to install the SPL rear most diff bushing. It is certainly possible to do it with the subframe in the car, but it's not an easy process. Removing the subframe then makes it the ideal time to do the subframe bushings, as they press out fairly easily with the subframe out of the car (took maybe 30 mins to press them all out). The new ones simply install by hand, no press needed.
