Question Riding HIGH on Zeals...

Hey everyone! Well it seems like I've got more problems than solutions. I've got a set of Zeal Function Xs w/true rear coilover on my G35 Coupe. The rears are lowered all the way down and the car actually sits higher than stock. In stock form, there was a 2 finger gap between fender and tire. Now it's a little over 3 fingers...at the lowest setting.

I've already contacted Kent at Endless USA and he said that they appear to be 'normal' but is willing to help me out. I'm gonna have the rears rebuilt to lower the car 1 1/2" - 2" more, since I thought that's where it should've been in the first place. I've never heard of this problem before, but I'm usually the one to be the first in these types of situations, my luck I guess . I just want to get some feedback from you guys/gals about my problem... onto the pics...

Take care

I know this seems obvious and maybe I'm missing something, but did you try turning one ring instead of both at the same time.

(Not trying to offend so don't hit me)

Looks like the ring that you turned down was the locking ring... adjust the height by turning down the ring that spring sits on, (the spring perch). Turn that locking ring back up to jam against the spring perch, that locks it in place.

No offense taken guys haha! Believe me, I tried but it won't go any further down. That's what I thought was weird, but the shock is all the way into the lower casing that mounts to the axle. I can't turn the shock anymore than that, only in the opposite direction to raise it. Strange I know...

I hope you guys aren't referring to lowering the spring perch collar to adjust height...? I was told that was sorta a No No. I did try it though just for process of elimination, and it lowered the car, but made it ride like sh@t. No travel in the suspension. Just back breaking stiff.

+4. According to the pics, it appears that you raised it up at the highest ride height instead. Just lower that blue collar under the yellow spring closer to the other blue collar and you should slamming in no time.

Yes, we are referring to the blue collar underneath the spring just keep turning it untill it threads down to the bottom. Yes, the ride will get alot stiffer the further down you bring the collar down. You were right now get back to work and bring that collar down so we can see your nice *** g slammed, lol.

By lowering the blue collar underneath the spring, won't I be affecting spring preload? As mentioned before, I did lower that blue collar and it did result in a lower height but at the expense of a stiffer ride. Is there no other way?

No, there isn't any other way!! Get your *** in the garage and lower your damn g for goodness christ. Of course its going to get stiffer the lower the drop the stiffer the ride unless you get airbags and then it still sometimes a bit bouncy. I was being sarcastic about you getting in your garage by the way since some ppl can't sense sarcasm...lol.

^ Marques1 you funny! Simmer down a bit, the G will be slammed once it's all said and done haha! If there really is no other way to get lower, I'll get the rears rebuilt to my specs so I'll have a slammed ride WITH a decent ride quality. But thanks for all the input though, glad to see people at least helping out fellow members!

Take care

^Yeah, that's exactly what I did. I held the lower blue case piece that has the "Function...Caution" sticker, then screwed down the shock body. It's in a far as it's gonna go. I've lost nights of sleep about this setup and finally broke down this week and called up Kent for help. I try to figure things out before asking for help. I talked with Cheston (Chebosto) about this a while back too. Sayin' the same as what everyone's mentioned. Guess I'm just stubborn. I know how I WANT it to ride, just getting there is the hard part... Thanks again for the input though!

It won't go down any further? Maybe there is something wrong with the thread on the suspension. Maybe take it off the car and see if you can screw it down or something. I can take some pics of how far mine is on this weekend if you want. I have the same coilovers.

You have to hold the bottom ring and loosen the middle ring, what you probably did was tighten the top ring and the middle ring together. Dont listen to Dikspiel or Waizzz I do most of the work on their rice buckets!

I forgot you had Zeals too!!! Yeah, it really won't go any further. I have tried! No need to take pics man, but thanks! It just kinda pisses me off that I had to get the one and only set ever made that is wack. I'm guessing that maybe the shock casing is too long. I'll get this sorted out in about a month or so. Kent said maybe 2-3 weeks total turnaround time to have them rebuilt from Japan. I'm thinking about going with a 1 1/2"-2" shorter shock casing. This should give me the height I want with the ride quality to match.

Take care
