Brembo break pads
I took my Z to the dealer today for an oil change and they told me my front and rear brake pads are worn 85%. I have brembo brakes. They told my it would cost around $900 for parts and labor. Is that a normal price or should I find some other way to get it done?

how much do the pads cost? what is the rate of the labor? Add it up, compare that to your quote.
It shouldn't take a good shop more than 2 hours I would think.
See if there is a DIY in the maintenance section here and see if you'd feel comfortable with doing the work, that will save you a lot of money, which is clearly a concern.

I would say you are getting raped.
I would shop around to see about getting the labor down. Check out some of the vendors on the boards I am sure you get get a better price on pads also.
I don't know about the Brembo, but regular brakes are not that hard to change. I would assume it would not be to much more work.

Dunno bout d brembos but regular pads run me about 40 bux for the front... Now seeing that u need front and back and that they're brbos I would say 150 MAX for just the pads (educated guess). I've seen brembo brake caliperss before and changing the pads Is the same as with any other system... So if ur comfortable in d garage I would recomend you do it urself and save urself a decent amount of $$$
the parts are about $500 so i guess thats $400 for labor. I really dont have the tools or the knowledge to do it myself. i dont mind spending that much if thats what it takes but I just dont want to get ripped off.
my bad for misspelling brakes lol

StopTech ceramic street pads front/rear for $128 and Hawk HPS front/rear for under $200 shipped on eBay.

That does seem about how much the dealer would charge for a complete front and rear brake job....The brembo brakes were costly maintenance factor that led Nissan to not use them on the later model 350's and g's. IF u are completely switching up the whole setup it wouldn't take too long at all...........
That price is fair for OEM parts at a dealership, but you do not need to pay that much. Do you peruse your local subforum for the Mass area? Ask someone to help you, it's an easy job and the parts (pads and fluid) are cheap from online vendors. Go to their place with a case of beer and the car and a new fifty. Make sure you bring the lock to your wheels if they have one. You'll save at least $500 by being friendly with your local Z (or G) buds.
If you don't know anybody and are an introvert, PM me. I have a few friends in the area that I could bribe with your money.

Dam I think thats kinda expensive espically for just pads. I got cermaic hawk brake pads front/rear with drilled/slotted rotors fron/rear for $900 installed... lol just shop around.... I like the hawk brake pads barly any brake dust and I think there worth the price. or try out Axis...
I just did EBC pads on my brembos. Once the car is jacked up and the wheels off brake pads take about 10 minutes a corner to change... SUPER EASY!
I spent more time jacking the car up, putting it on jack stands and taking the wheels off than I did changing the pads.

They saw a sucker, thats it. I mean you are so clueless you don't even know how to spell brakes.

You can use the old brake pad to push it back as well. Wedge the pad long ways and push/pull using it as a lever. Its nice and wide so it pushes both pistons at once and probably less likely to rip the seal than if your screwdriver slips or placed accidentally on the seal. I tried the C Clamp and brake pad tool, but this is so much easier.
$900 is a total rip off for brakes. I'm thinking that may include new Brembo rotors ($$$) which probably aren't necessary or you can get aftermarket rotors that are a fraction of the price if they do need to be replaced.

I was quoted 1200 to replace front rotors and pads on my former track model.
Luckily I had found a complete set of OEM rotors and pads off a new car being converted to race use for 50 bucks and changed them over by myself...and I am 60 y.o.
