Race pads
All,
I installed a wilwood 13'' BBK in the front with polymatrix B pads and Carbotech XP10 pads in the rear (stock rotor/caliper). When I get the brakes hot they make a real nasty grinding sound at slower speeds even when the brakes are not pressed. Is this normal for aggressive pads? I hear it mostly in the front, although I can hear it in the rear too.
The brakes themselves work excellent, requiring little pedal effort for a good stop, have good pedal feel and no spongy feeling..

Yeah. They look fine.. I only have like 10 miles on the setup. I broke them in with 5X 60-20 stops, 5X 100-20 stops, 5X 130-20 stops.
The rotors and pads were smoking but the stops were well controlled and good. After the last stop i kept driving and upon cooling I came to a stop when I hear this vicious grinding. After I stop I go outside, check the rotors and everything looks great. I get back in and the sound goes away!
BTW, these pads are not pre bedded.

From my modest experience with aggressive pads that isn't normal, I would check to see if people using the pad in other cars have the same experience. Maybe someone will chime in here, i.e. one of the Braking Vendors. From what I've seen and used, the race or near race pads wear quickly, make sqealing noises, and output a ton of dust other than that they are pretty OEM (excluding feel and performance of course).
Also check to see if the rotor is wearing/rubbing against something else.

Do you have grooves in the rotor? If so you are hearing the groove at low speed. That would be perfectly normal. I have had my Wilwood Kit for six years and five are racing years. The only negative is race pads wear the rotors out cold very quickly. I have used the "J " polymetrix pad in the front and "c" in the rear but again this is a deticated track car the last two years.
I think you are fine. There are lot of options for pads if you only intend to use this car on the street.

I currently have Polymatrix B pads, way too aggressive but Ill see how they fair when I go racing soon enough.
I run Poly B pads on the track only, and swap them out at the track (non local events) They will destroy your rotors, cold winter day coming home from willow springs and my rotors and pads were gone (230 miles at 30 degrees). THEY ARE NOT GOOD FOR STREET USE
