Default Multi-purpose setup? (DD, drift, track)

In the coming weeks I will buy my first Z and I would like to use it as daily driver with occasional track racing and drifting.

With that said, can you please enlighten me what kind of mods I need to undertake in order make it ideal for the above mentioned purposes? i.e. upgraded brake pads, steel braided brake lines, oil cooler, suspension, 2-way differential, etc... or is the car good to go at stock trim level? Please also write if you think is absolutely necessary and what not as I have limited funds.

I intend to get the track edition with brembo brakes.

Thank you

Kim

Welcome. Everyone is going to get a 350Z. Maybe 1 in 20 new members ever get one. With respect get the 350Z first. We will work out the rest later.

I humbly thank you for your very informative response. I was totally unaware there such a thing as a search function on message boards as well the requirement to buy a Z before asking questions. Thanks to your endeavors to assist other members of this board I now know this.

Save your money and get a base model and build from there. You'll end up replacing most of the track model stuff anyways if you seriously going to track/drift.

Agreed, but if you don't listen, upgrade the LSD immediately regardless of which edition you buy.

really? stock LSD so bad, not even fore beginners/intermediate drifting?

here in Germany all 350Z were sold fully loaded with the track package so I have no choice in going for a different trim level.

For a beginner it may be fine, but they are prone to "one wheel". You could certainly start there. There are a boat load of pads available for the Brembo brakes, and they should satisfy your skill level for quite some time, and changing pads on them is a breeze. You should upgrade to the stainless lines and hi-temp fluid as well with a good brake bleed. For your first few events, however, you shouldn't need anything but concentration.

I'm also going for the same setup: DD, drift, AutoX.

My VSD is holding up fine on the AutoX'ing but I imagine I would need a 1.5 or 2 way for drifting. That's fine and dandy but wouldn't a 1.5+LSD be horrible for AutoX'ing?

I'm not trying to thread jack but at the same time I'm not trying to start something new. (^_^)
