Green Stuff Brakes
I currently suffer from the excessive brake dust problem that we are all too familiar with. I've finally gotten tired of cleaning my wheels every 25 miles and decided to address the problem. I purchased a set of Green Stuff pads and have a question for those of you who have replaced your stock pads.
I don't have any problem replacing the pads myself, however, when I read the outside of the Green Stuff box, it said that they do not come with anti-rattle backing plates. In addition, it said DO NOT attempt to replace the backing plates with the used ones because it will increase the overall thickness of the Green Stuff pads, causing pad drag on the rotors.
For those of you that have changed yours, did you just remove the stock pads and backing plates then just slap in the Green Stuff pads without any backing plates or what did you do? Did you use any type of anti-squeal compound on the backs of the pads? Etc...Etc...
Any input will greatly help me
Thank You

most auto parts stores sell some goop you can spread on the backing plates to eliminate the noise...
the only problem is, that goop gets on everything and makes it darn near impossible to remove the pads when it's time to change them later

I put in Hawk pads and reused the stock plates. I did notice that the new pads has a slightly thicker back plate then stock. Once you push the piston back in there shouldn't be a problem. I've had no problems.
