Default how stiff are your sways

like the title says i just put on my hotckis swaybars "3rd hole upfront and middle hole in the rear" it feels like the car wants to go sideways.. kinda hard to explain but as if the rear of the car is just not predictable anymore. any one experience this? im lowered on gf210 springs if that helps at all.

I had the same situation with my Hotckis, I had sportlines at the time also...I would just soften up the sway bars and it might feel better to you. The only way to find out is to change the settings, then drive. You will find what feels best to you...

Go full soft rear and one up from full soft up front, the stiffer the bars the less traction the tires have.

There is not "best" in suspension tuning.

^Impossible to say. Assuming you have 4 hole front & 3 hole rear...I would do 3rd hole in front and full soft on the rear. The car may also feel "darty" due to a poor alignment. Did you have the car realigned after lowering it?

A rule of thumb that makes it easier to understand is...

-Stiffer springs and/or roll bars generally decrease traction at that end of the car.
-Softer springs and/or roll bars generally increase traction at that end of the car.

With that said, its still relative. Too much of any ajustment will begin to lose traction.

yes i have it on the 3rd upfront and middle in the rear, going to change it to fullsoft and see how it feels. as for the alignment its in spec had it aligned not too long ago.

LOL!^ {Owner!}

Back on topic;
I have Hotchkis (second port Fronts/second port Rear) on DSpec's and Whiteline endlinks, and it feels fantastic on the streets/HWy's...
You MUST get an alignment made after installing/setup of the new sways/suspension kit (03threefiftyz was correct in his statement).
When i had my kit installed, i did the complete set in one shot, & was unable to get an alignment done untill the the shocks/struts settled in after a few hundred miles. During that time, the car felt too "loose" & fidgity.

Please drive carefully.

are you talking about cornering?

Stiffer rear will result in the rear breaking traction sooner due to transferring more load to the outside wheel. Same goes for the front. This is how under/over steer is tuned.

^Yes it's a generalization and can't be used in every situation but as you say the idea is that a higher resistance to roll will tend to promote a transfer that breaks traction sooner. The dynamics are similar front and rear. Stiffer front bar will generally add to an understeering condition, to a point, where additional stiffness can actually help with traction. Once again, it's something that has to be tried to be understood.

Suspension tuning is a black art, it's easy to get an understanding but very tough to master (and I don't claim to be the latter is any way).
