Koni Adjustable Shock Broken (Pics) / Customer Service
I have a set of Koni Adjustable Sport Shocks on my Z, and just the other day I pulled out of my driveway and started scraping pretty badly... I got out and saw the left side of the car was slammed... popped the hood, and shock oil was pouring out of the top... the shocks only have about 10,000 miles on them.
I had the car towed to a local shop (around 6PM PST)... the following morning I contacted Koni about the problem, sent them proof of purchase and all that jazz. They had a new shock out to me by 8:40AM the next day (covered under warranty)!
It turns out... the shock broke completely in two pieces at the bottom... Just a few days before I was in the canyons... I can't imagine what would have happened at speed.
Anyone else seen this?! Is this just a random defect on the shock... zoiks!

I always thought their lower lug was a weak spot...
A sleeved bushing or the SPL lower control arm outter (shock mount) bushing would do it some help as it wouldn't pinch the lower lug.
During installation was it tightened to torque spec or just "strong armed" tight and called it good??
hows the inner translink bushing?? is it offcentered/ blown?

Dam, that looks like a weak point, and have seen other bend and fail at the same point. I would guess its designed to fail to save other suspension parts.
